  • P2 applied on 8/31, went into pending, got reference number in the mail. Logged on to verify mail receipt and instantly approved on 9/8.

    3/24 with +1 AU on P1

  • Adding an instant approval DP to the mixed results bag:

instant approval via pre approval link #2095131 (link showed "pre-qualified" with my info)
$6,300 limit, instant card number provided for immediate use.
1 open Citi Access checking account with very little balance, opened March 2024
1 Costco Citi Visa regularly used and open since ~2019, <1% utilized. CL $7,100
    no other citi products
    781 Experian
4/24 (6 hard inquiries in 24 months for all credit cards, most recent inquiry in July for CIP)
Overall utilization across all open CL is <10%

  • DP - applied and got this: "Hi, Rob. Thanks for your interest in opening a Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® Card account. We're reviewing the application you submitted on and will get back to you within 7-10 days." Just under 24 hours later checked application status and it was approved.

  • This card offer is still active but not listed on the Best credit card bonus page - maybe an oversight?

One question to clarify - this card bonus 48-month timer is separate from the Citi business aadvantage card, right?

  • Was pre-qualified, applied and received a 7-10 day message. After a 10 minute wait on recon line, approved for a measly $6000 CL. Citi being Citi.

  • When I applied for Citi Premier a few years back, they denied me for too much available credit. I thought they were done with me. I did close some unused and unneeded cards over the years.

I was approved for Citi SYW late last year and I do use that card pretty frequently.

I did end up getting approved for this card. It appears that I was at 5/24 when approved..

  • Denied instantly. 780 Experian. Opened a citi card in dec 2024. 4/24. 6 hard inquiries in 24 months

  • Anyone else get "We have received your application and further processing is required. We will contact you in approximately 7-10 days regarding our decision." upon application? I'm preparing for a denial, but maybe not?

    • Well, I got the approval email a few hours later, so don't assume that message is a denial.

  • Denied instantly, 818 TU score, 805 Experian, 775 FICO. I am at 3/24 new accounts, 3 hard inquiries in 24 months, only 1 hard inquiry in the last 12 months (4/2025, which is also the only new account in the last 12 months). My credit shows 2% utilization.

Is there anything I am missing here? I thought I would get approved right away reading up on how sensitive Citi is with inquiries, etc. Pretty annoyed by this because I use AA a lot. I do currently have the Barclays Aviator Red card so I was wanting to get the Citi AAdvantage card before Citi takes over Barclays' accounts next year.

    • I called the recon line just now and still no dice. They said it was because of "insufficient history" he said meaning .. if I have opened accounts over the years, not used them very long, and closed them this is insufficient history. Also he said I may have too many new accounts (I have 1 in 12 months, 3 in 24 months). He said maybe once the newest account ages a bit they would approve me at a later time. I feel like giving up on Citi, they suck in their banking and won't take someone with a great credit history as a customer. Just very frustrated, there is nothing I can do to improve my credit other than just never signing up for a credit card again and letting everything fall off for 2 years.
