  • 10% in eBay Bucks on every qualifying item of $50 or more Promotion details
  • The Promotion starts at 5:00AM PT on October 19, 2016, and ends at 11:59PM PT on October 20, 2016.
  • Extra eBay Bucks can only be earned on every single item purchased that meets the minimum purchase requirement specified in the offer.
  • Valid on multiple qualifying purchases made within the promotion time period. In order to qualify for the offer, you must click the email to activate.
  • *Qualifying purchase excludes all items in the following categories: Classifieds, Business & Industrial, Real Estate, eBay Gift Cards (within the Gift Cards & Coupons category), Bullion (within the Coins & Paper category), and eBay Motors (including Parts & Accessories).

Our Verdict

You can no longer earn eBay bucks on gift card purchases, although what’s interesting is that the e-mail they sent out says that you can earn 10% back on a gift card purchase. Unfortunately that’s just a marketing error. Do people want to still see these eBay bucks offers? This is likely the last one we will post if not.   • Could care less about ebay bucks. Can't earn or use on GC's. I'm for not posting these deals anymore.

  • I'd still like to see these types of posts. I buy a lot on eBay. This information is very useful to me.

    • btw. you can still post these eBay 10% notices in the spirit of your blog. just like any other nice offer you always post. this helps your readers A LOT in a personal finance way.

      Just no need to spend time writing too much about it. just make it a notice. people still read your blog to get the FYI on good crap even tho the GC angle is gone.

  • What's weird is that the email I got gave a gift card and a gold coin as examples of deals for which you'd get the bonus.

    • Yeah and 2 of the 3 examples in the photo above are gift cards. DOC are you sure that the third party cards are not eligible?

  • I think it is nice to see it since I do buy stuff on ebay that isn't gift cards, but I saw it at 9am. It really sucks that they took ebay bucks away from GC, but I totally understand why. listing fees are 10%, but on a 10% ebay day the break even or lose 1%+ if you use a portal. It would have been nice if they just left the 2% and excluded them from the ebay bucks multiplier tho... That would still make them money, but apparently that wasn't good enough...

    • The big gift card sellers aren't paying anywhere near 10% in fees, so eBay was likely loosing tons of money on gift cards on these bonus days. Particularly when people were using eBay gift cards, which were purchased at 3rd-party retailers (which eBay gives a cut to), to purchase other 3rd-party cards on eBucks bonus days... I'm sure they were hemorrhaging money from these transactions.
