Privacy.com 5% Back for 3 Months on Online Purchases [Targeted]

The Offer

Privacy.com is one of many options to get virtual cards numbers for your online shopping which enhances security and helps save from being overcharged. Our review can be found here.

  • Many people are getting an email offer from Privacy.com to get 5% back on three months worth of purchases during May, June, and July after spending $500 during this  month of April.

Our Verdict

An interesting thing is that the language is to ‘boost your cashback by 5%’ which seems to imply that the 5% is in addition to the standard 1%, meaning 6% total, but I’m not convinced that’s really true.

They obviously have no idea what they’re getting themselves into when offering 5% back for all online purchases for 3 months. My guess is they’ll change the terms, add a limit, or just freeze up accounts after small amounts of spend. A reader notes that there is a limit of $1k/day and $2k/month (see General) on Privacy, so essentially this is 5% back on $6k for the ‘cost’ of spending $500 this month with little or no rewards. Pretty good deal.

Personally, I got a different offer from Privacy.com for 2% back for 12 months after spending $500 this month.

  • i used privacy app before. linked to my bank acct. never knew they offer 1% back. reference?

  • That language could mean something even worse: the standard 1% increases by 5% to 1.05%.

  • Definitely not just handing over my bank account details to some unknown company. Thanks but no thanks. My CC already comes with this feature minus the invasion of privacy (the irony)

  • I think they have a $1,000 maximum spend/ month on every account anyways, don't they?
