My friend said that the Stop and Shop in Somerville MA still doesn't accept CCs. So I guess YMMV.
Can confirm WD is dead for credit cards. Some designs do still work but MCs are dead.
The Stop & Shop in New Haven, CT has the sign up and the customer service reps said they still don't accept credit cards as payments regardless of what that sign states.
Had credit fail at WD in FL today so I guess it's true! This was a chip location also.

Would like to know this, too. A couple weeks ago, the displays switched to gift card mall sponsored display and the signs saying cash or debit only were gone. Was waiting for a gas promotion to try out.
All the Winn Dixie's in SE Louisiana are chip enabled. As of yesterday, I was unable to purchase gift cards with a CC at at least 5 of them. I haven't bothered to test anymore since it seems pretty conclusive on my end.
I had thought that with chip POS enabled, they'd be fine with credit card purchases on gift cards. Apparently not.
In FL all Winn Dixies have chip enabled terminals. While the credit option still works in my to-go store, I believe the days are numbered. Because if some stores already cash/debit only, others will follow soon or later. I recall that managers complain that they see almost every week people who try to purchase Vic's with stolen credit cards.
Regarding winn-dixie - just bought vgc yesterday in FL and credit option was working.
