Exactly the opposite. Delta now benefits from an opaque currency they can devalue whenever they want. Heavy award routes can now be regularly inflated with most consumers being none the wiser. The point is that SkyMiles have no reliable value.
I am surprised Delta hasn't gone to a cash value already. That is where they want to end up. It would probably be better for domestic awards actually but would be terrible for delta one international awards.
