The Offer
- Samsung Pay Rewards is offering 4x rewards points until December 26th. This means you’ll earn at the following rates:
- Entry Level: 40 points per transaction
- Silver Level: 80 points per transactions
- Gold Level: 120 points per transaction
- Platinum Level: 160 points per transaction
The Fine Print
- Valid until December 24th, 2016
- You must wait at least five minutes per transactions
Our Verdict
So points are usually worth 0.5¢ each, but currently they are worth double that. That means if you’re Platinum you can get $1.6 per transaction and a maximum of 50 transactions per month so quite lucrative. Even better if you redeem them for a $50 Samsung.com off code that only costs 1,000 points if those are still available. Visa cards are on sale as well 2,500 for a $20 card or 5,000 for a $50 card.
You can also get $15 for using a Chase card three times and a YMMV offer for making three purchases and getting $10.
I really hope Android Pay & Apple Pay start rolling out a similar rewards program and promotions. At the moment Samsung Pay is just miles ahead of competitors, partly due to the fact it’ll work on any terminal and not just ones that are NFC compatible. They also have discounted gift cards through the app as well.

sorry if this isn't allowed. referral code if you're using it for the first time New to #SamsungPay? http://smsng.us/payreferral Enter my code [removed referral code, please only share referrals in designated referral threads] before your 1st purchase to get $5 in rewards.
Actually, you'll earn TWICE the amounts mentioned if you used the 2X code (I think it was only for new users.............started it up with my 10 day old S7 Edge on the 10th). I'm Gold right now and earning 240 points a transaction. 1 more transaction to platinum and then 320. All the mutlipliers stay in place.
I'm guessing that this, and maybe once or twice more (when the other payment systems entice), you'll see this kind of payout.
may have to hit the vending machine pretty hard at work, spacing transactions out every 5 mins
I am over 30 transactions in Samsung Pay so far this month, and am blowing peoples minds with it every single time lol. I love it, have Android Pay and have never used it as Samsung Pay is just so much better. Now if only more cards were supported. Also never warn the cashiers, just pop the phone up and pay and there is no trouble other than them being amazed it worked.
Hey DOC, maybe contact Discover and see what is up with them not supporting Samsung Pay yet. They announced support for it over a year ago in press releases and still it is not supported in real life. What's going on?
I've reached out to Discover regarding this. The rep told me that eventually they will be compatible but right now they are not rushing. I feel like there is some lobbying against using it, it is hands down the best pay thus far too...really its a shame.
FYI in case anyone encounters this stupidity.
Samsung Pay promos are scaring various cashiers and merchants, putting a stupid policy storewide ban on putting your smart phone close to their POS terminal. But citing no specific reason except their "manager" has said no smartphones are to be near the POS terminal. Idiots.
Just scared because its not an iPhone. anyway. YMMV.
Happened in San Francisco with various stores.
Worried that you're some super hacker skimming historical magstripe data off their terminals? Lol
But SF, of all places? You'd expect better from that region...
exactly. out of all places, SF? retarded. but this is similar to the reaction when Uber first launched. same thing here.
however, to your point and in their defense, its absolutely possible to do some damage when you bring your hacker device posing as a smart phone next to their POS terminal. so I guess I cant be 100% upset.
My account has been looked after making purchased 4 discount gift cards. Do anyone experience like this before and how to make account unlocked? Thanks
The terms stipulate a max of $500 in gift cards during the promo period. But I've found that this definitely is not hard-coded like the 24-hr restrictions. So they must just be manually reviewing accounts over a certain threshold and putting a temporary hold on the account. Good to know, I just finished purchasing over $500 to see if there was any sort of hard-code, so I'll cool it on the GC's so avoid the frozen account.
I didn't receive 4 cards limit reach before my account has been locked. I received email from Samsung Pay team and said that my account is locked until the end of promotion.
I wanted to buy regular gift cards but since my account has been locked, I can't even use Samsung Pay in app purchase any more. This seems like Samsung violate user right. I'm thinking to file consumer complaining.
I got an account hold after buying over $1K in the promo GCs. The hold is set to expire after the promo finishes.
But if you just have the "limit 4 GC" or "$200 limit" message, it expires after 24 hours.
You can only buy 4 Gift Cards per 24 hour period. That's why you're locked. It unlocks automatically when you can buy more.
That Samsung code is not what you think. That has to be used on Samsung gear. I guess if you need a Samsung phone and buy it through Samsung directly, that's good.
But the better redemptions are the Samsung Pay Visa Rewards Cards. Currently 2,500 points for a $20 card.
What do you mean "what you think"? William's wording in the post sounds like he understood it correctly.
It's an extremely good deal for SmartThings, Samsung smartphones and smartwatches. Particularly for SmartThings, because it's normally not much cheaper elsewhere. I've got multiple phones dedicated to Samsung Pay, and with 8000 points a month per phone (now equal to $400 in Samsung.com codes), it's an extremely cheap and easy way to get your home decked out in SmartThings for free.
And if you don't want any smart devices at all, you can make a tidy profit by getting ST hubs and maybe a couple of watches for free, then reselling them.
It's limit of one code per order though right? I can't stack multiples of these $50 codes?
Yup I just confirmed this, but I suppose that just makes the smaller ticket stuff like the ST devices more attractive for this promo. Makes for a good discount on the watches and all, but yeah I think I might just stick to the free ST sensors in this case.
The way they're handing these out (almost like candy) makes them seem like loss leaders by attracting customers into the ST ecosystem, but I'm not complaining. Even my 2nd gen ST hub was free from using the $100 courtesy code when they had that huge price mistake on the 40" 2016 SUHD TV back in May :)
That is correct i confirmed this
Do people actually buy phones through samsung.com? I thought people bought phones through their wireless provider like TMobile, Verizon, etc?
I bought a phone directly from Samsung.com during ThanksGiving. They had an offer ($250 samsung.com Coupon + Samsung Gear VR + $50 VR Content) which was too good to give up.
that was a fantastic offer, IMO. Really crazy deal. Sadly I missed it by minutes.
Ohhh, that's on special as well?
Yes for limited time (no idea when that ends). 2,500 for a $20 card or 5,000 for a $50 card. Obviously the 50 card is better but perhaps challenging to rack up 5,000 points in the limited period.
I believe the limited time period ends 01/15/17.
