Special Offer For Recent Approvals: Chase Sapphire Preferred & INK Cardholders Get $50 Chase Travel Credit (YMMV)

The Offer

Chase is sending out an email with details of the new Points Boost information on the Sapphire Preferred card and on the INK Preferred card which takes away the flat 1.25% redemption option for a variable option, effective in October 2025.

They also note a special offer for new Sapphire Preferred cardholders who were approved within the past year-or-so:

  • Get a one-time $50 credit toward Chase Travel booking. That’s on top of the regular $50 annual hotel credit benefit. To redeem, just book your itinerary through Chase Travel by June 23, 2026.
  • Some INK Preferred cardholders are getting the $50 credit email as well.

Our Verdict

Nice bonus $50 credit. I believe this $50 shows up as a credit in Chase Travel (?) while the $50 hotel credit comes as a statement credit. You should be able to use up both on $100 hotel booking.

Seems like they are trying to soften the blow of the new Points Boost which most of us consider a downgrade. For some reason they’re only offering the credit to new-ish cardholders.

  • I have a Sapphire Preferred card yet I did not receive such an email. Searched 'in:all' in my Gmail box. Anyone else seeing the same?

  • It is not necessary to have gotten the email to get the credit. Just log into your account on the browser, click on the UR total in the upper right corner, select the card you want, and then select Ways To Use Points from the drop down menu. You should end up on this page: https://ultimaterewardspoints.chase.com/ways-to-use. If your card has the $50 credit, you will see a green "Promotion Available" note.

Got this on CSP and CIP for both P1 and P2, even though we only got the email for the CSPs opened in May and not for the CIPs opened 10 months ago.

    • This is a solid data point. Can confirm that my CIP that was opened in July 2024 does have the $50 portal credit, even though I did not get an email about it. I tried dummy hotel and airline bookings in Chase Travel and can see the option to add the $50 promotion credit.

My 3-year old CSP does NOT have the $50 portal credit, even though there is a green "Promotion Available" note. Best way to confirm if you have the credit is to do a dummy booking and see if the $50 credit pops up. The credit is good for one year, June 2026.

      • @guest_2083881 Try starting a booking. When you get to checkout, you will see the option to apply your promotion, along with the details of what it is -- a $50 credit that expires in a year.

  • Got the additional $50 portal credit on P2 CSP that was opened last month for 100k sub.

Did not get the credit on CIP opened July 2024.

  • I received the email about the $50 credit before I read the comments in this post so I thought it would be a statement credit instead of a credit at checkout. I immediately booked a hotel through Chase Travel but didn't get the credit in the booking

    • Ha! I did the same. Then just cancelled. The $50 promo credit is not useful to me at all, though who knows, we have until June 2026 to use it.

      • How is the promo credit not useful at all? Usually the Chase Travel surcharge will be less than $50 per night.

  • Approved for CSP June 8 this year and not seeing the email or the $50 travel credit.
