Swagbucks: Moneymaker with Private Internet Access VPN Deal

Update 1/24/22: Deal is back at 4,500 Swagbucks, but there is no minimum term anymore so a monthly plan should work turning it into a good money maker. Hat tip to Pikachoose

The Offer

Direct Link to offer

  • Private Internet Access VPN is offering 4,500SB ($45) when you buy a one-year plan and 7,000SB ($70) when you buy a two year plan.

The one-year plan costs $39.95 making it a $5.05 moneymaker and the two-year plan costs $69.95 making it roughly break-even. There might be sales tax to figure it.

The Fine Print

  • SB will appear as Pending for 32 days.
  • This offer is only available to new Private Internet Access customers/subscribers.
  • Must remain subscribed for 30 days to earn SB.
  • Must submit valid name, address, credit card and other subscription information to earn SB.
  • Offer may only be redeemed once (1) per user.

Our Verdict

Another VPN deal. I’m not an expert on the differences between all these, but if you are looking for a VPN this looks like an easy way to get a free year + $5 moneymaker or to get two free years.

  • It's been more than 60 days since my purchase and this never posted for me. It definitely tracked as the Pending icon appeared next to my visit. Will submit a ticket.

    • They credited my account but only for 250 SB. I reached back out with a screenshot showing the 4000 SB offer and asking them to credit me the full amount, but as of yet no response.

      • 3+ weeks and still no response. I'll follow up one final time, threatening to go to the BBB if I don't hear back.

        • Same thing happened to me, waiting to hear back from SB. Did SB reply to you and reward the remainder, or did you end up filing with BBB?

          • I never followed up with them and never filed with BBB. Not sure it would be worth the effort or even that it would lead to getting paid out so I think I'll just let it go.

          • Well, I followed up on the first ticket, and created a second ticket from the 250SB payout (referencing the first ticket they ignored, and threatening to go to BBB), and they eventually paid out the full amount. Amazing.

  • Signed up for this today, couple DPs... 1. The "select your plan" page shows the monthly plan's cost is $11.99, but after selecting it, during checkout it's only $9.99 (I later confirmed $9.99 was the amount charged). 2. PayPal Key will be declined. :-/

    • The visit is tracked under Activity, but no points pending. Got a feeling that we'll have to file a ticket to get paid.

      • I also don't have any points pending, i.e. nothing in my SB Pending Activity, but in the Visited tab there is a gold check mark under "SB earned" and when I hover it it says Pending.

  • I'm not too sure but there may be a vpn that rhymes with
    photon-male
whereby you can get a fairly decent vpn for free when you sign up for the free email
    just sayin'

  • For me the link shows...

"Protect yourself online with the world’s most trusted VPN. Get 3 months free when you purchase the 3-year plan! Purchase a 1-year plan to earn 2,750 SB or a 3-year plan to earn 4,500 SB*"

So looks like the upfront purchase of the 1 or 3 year plan is required to earn the SB.

  • PIA was purchased by a known malware company about 2 years ago. Do the deal if you want, but maybe consider not using the service

    • I use the service and have for about 6 years now. I haven't noticed anything change since they were bought out but I don't necessarily trust it anymore either. It works for what I need it for but perhaps there are more reputable VPN providers I should look into trying.

  • 4500 SB is showing for me again, but with no mention of any minimum plan requirement in the terms. It only says "Must remain subscribed for 30 days to earn SB." If that's true, the monthly plan is only $11.95/mth - so this could now be a moneymaker?

    • you need to be subscribed for 30 days.. so surely it will charge the renewal before the 30 days? so you're stuck paying 2 months minimum? @guest_1320507

      • I used a virtual card that locked after the initial charge so the renewal charge didn't go through. Had to submit a Swagbucks ticket to be credited, but received the 4500 SB in my account now!

  • 4500 SB just paid out for me for the 1 yr plan after like 2 months of just 500 pending

  • Bought the two year subscription. Total paid out was supposed to be 7000 SB.

    3/20: 500 SB pending.
5/19: 500 SB paid out. Additional 4000 SB and 2500 SB paid out.

I was a bit worried at first since I didn't get the 4000 or 2500 even as pending at first.
