Looks like another round has been sent out. Fingers crossed that Chase doesn’t report this as a $500 bonus on 1099 forms again. Hat tip to FM

The Offer

Sent out via e-mail. Subject line is ‘<name>, please review: We’ll thank you with a $5 statement credit when you switch to paperless’

  • Chase is offering some cardholders a $5 statement credit when you go paperless by 3/2/2019

The Fine Print

  • Valid until 3/2/2019

Our Verdict

Sometimes I think these types of offers are self defeating, if people know you might send such an offer out then they will select to receive paper statements even when they would normally go paperless. I think a better option would be to offer something like $5 when signing up for a new card to go paperless instead (similar to the $25 bonus Chase offers on a lot of cards for authorized users).

  • Got an offer on my Chase ihg via email for $5 statement credit, @will @chucksithe

  • Got a pop up after logging into app to get a $5 reward for going paperless. 2nd time on my first Freedom (one time each the past two years). Thanks @guest_928672

  • I got this on my 2nd Freedom

“We'll reward you with a $10 statement credit when you go paperless by 3/14/20201.”

Now that all my Chase cards have got this offer, does anyone know if I switch back to paper, will I get targeted a 2nd time?

I promise to be more environmentally friendly for the waste of paper, ink, and everything related to document creation and delivery, because of my greediness.

    • That's what I do (I collect the bonus and then switch back to paper). They say you can collect the bonus once per year. Sounds good to me.

      • Thank you. That’s the first I’ve heard about once per year. I haven’t been targeted a second time yet for cards I already got the first from and already changed to paper. I was thinking it wasn’t worth it to keep getting mail but now it’s “churnable” so worth it.

    • Same. It showed me the offer after login to mobile app but I have not received the credit
