The Offer
- Signup for the Southwest Plus card and receive a 50,000 point bonus after $2,000 in spend within the first 3 months.
- Signup for the Southwest Premier card and receive a 50,000 point bonus after $2,000 in spend within the first 3 months.
- Signup for the Southwest business Premier card and receive a 50,000 point bonus after $2,000 in spend within the first 3 months.
The Premier is pretty easy to get with a 50,000 point bonus, but the Plus card is sometimes harder to find a public offer that high. Milecards noticed that it’s now possible to get the 50k offer on the Plus card by going to the Premier link and scrolling down to the “more” option. The site clearly offers the 50k bonus for the Plus card as well.
The bad news is with regards to the business card: it used to be possible to get 60k points by calling in; now that phone offer is reportedly expired and that leaves the 50k offer as the best available.
The Fine Print
- Both personal and business Premier cards come with $99 fee. Plus card comes with a $69 fee.
- Annual fee not waived for the first year.
- Premier cards have no foreign transaction fee. Plus card does have a foreign transaction fee.
- Premier cards get a 6k point bonus on the anniversary. Plus card gets a 3k point bonus on the anniversary. (You can cancel the card after getting the bonus and save the annual fee.)
Our Verdict
It’s nice to have the Plus card readily available with the 50k bonus, but you may want to time your applications right so as to get enough points for the companion pass. If that’s your goal, better not to apply now and hope to find the 50k offer in November time so that you can get almost 2 years worth out of the companion pass.
Good things to keep in mind regarding Chase credit cards:
- If it’s been 24-months since you got the bonus last, you can get it again.
- Chase has been cracking down on people churning credit cards. The new rules don’t technically affect co-branded cards like the Southwest card, but there is some spill-over affect if you aren’t system-approved automatically.
- As a matter of policy, Chase will match a higher signup bonus offer within 90-days. If you applied recently for the Plus using a 90-day offer, send them an SM and you’ll be able to get the 50k offer matched.
- Multiple hard credit inquiries from Chase done on the same day will be combined, but personal and business will not be combined.

It does not appear that they are opening plus cards anymore.
I've had these cards for more than 24 months. If I cancel and immediately re-apply, would I get the bonus?
I would think that's fine, so long as the bonus posted more than 24 months ago.
