Our Verdict

The launch offer on the newly revamped Sapphire Reserve card was 100,000+$500 travel credit. It’s now a flat 125,000 which is the highest bonus ever. The spend is slightly higher at $6,000 instead of $5,000 and it doesn’t have the $500 Chase Travel credit, but some people will still prefer the extra 25,000 points instead. This bonus is also available via referral link which gets the referrer a 15,000 points bonus. We will add this to our list of the best credit card bonuses.

  • Hey churners- quick question. I am new to funding bank accounts with a CC. Looking to do the Old National bonus (fund $500) and clear some of the $5k SUB spending on here without getting hit with the cash advance fee. Do I need to call chase or should I just go for it? TY!!

  • Felt like jumping hoops to get this approved. Had CSPa few years back but cancelled.

applied through referral link, did not get pop up jail. Submitted the application, pending review.

chase called me verified I applied, confirmed. Rep submitted application over the phone, said decision within 7-10 days.

got another notice to call them. Called n verified same thing over the phone. Instant approval.

did not confirm bonus, did not see spending tracker in app.

‘after emailed CS, verified account is eligible for bonus….

  • DP: Got the CSP April 2021. Downgraded to Freedom 8/7. Tried applying via referral during the 100k+$500 and 125k offers and got the pop up. I was 4/24 on 8/18 and will be 3/24 in September, so I'll probably try again then (just in case... who knows).

  • I got a CSP bonus in August 2023 (24 months ago). I just recently closed that card 6/10/25. I've had no other Sapphire cards. Am I eligible for this?

  • DP: got pop up of "... this can happen if you've already held or received a bonus for this credit card. Current holders of personal Chase Sapphire cards are also ineligible ...".
my status: 3/24, had reserve and preferred card before, having freedom card. last bonus was 49 months ago.
I have to say the pop up indicates the bonus seems become one in lifetime. :(

  • Losing 3x on all travel, such as parking, uber, Lyft, all airline shopping portals like United and AA and JetBlue has me looking to cancel the card at renewal and find a new card. Any recommendations?

    • -If you travel a lot, are fine without transfer partners (just high rate of cash back or direct redemption on flights), and can park 100k in investments, Bank of America PR or PRE, as they keep the coupon BS to a minimum (easy to use annual credits). Combo with the Customized Cash.

-If you want international transfer partners, Venture X comboed with a Savor (although C1 is very enigmatic regarding approvals) OR WF Autograph Journey comboed with an Active Cash and/or Attune. Cap1 is stronger with higher grocery spend (most people); Wells is stronger with high entertainment and non-portal travel spend.

-If you want direct point transfers into Delta and want Clear Plus, Amex Green. Combo with Gold if you have high grocery/restaurant spend, although then you have coupon books to worry about.

-If you want direct point transfers into AA, Citi Strata Premier + Custom Cash + DoubleCash.

      • Autograph and Autograph Journey don’t have the same definition of what counts as “travel”. The no AF version is a much broader category…

  • DP: I logged into Chase and applied just now. Got the following message. I do not hold any Sapphire cards, but I've had both in the past. It has been more than 48 months (more than 49 months, actually) since I've received a CSR bonus. But I notice that this doesn't say 48 months, it seems to say that if you've EVER received a bonus, you're ineligible(?)

It looks like you’re not eligible for a bonus for a Chase Sapphire Reserve® credit card. This can happen if you’ve already held or received a bonus for this credit card. Current holders of personal Chase Sapphire cards are also ineligible. We haven’t done a credit check yet, so there will be no impact to your score if you don’t continue.

    • Yes, I was denied for receiving Sapphire Preferred bonus more than 48 months ago. Never even had a Reserve.
