Commenting Rules

By commenting on this site you agree to the follow the following rules:

  • Referral links:
    • Do not leave referral links, codes or text unless the post specifically states this is allowed.
    • Read the rules for leaving your referral links, codes or text when it is specifically allowed. This might vary from post to post so please read it each time.
  • Be respectful: Avoid insults, personal attacks, and offensive language. Homophobia, racism, sexism, antisemitic comments are all strictly banned.
  • Stay on topic: Comments should be relevant to the content being discussed
  • No impersonation: Don’t pretend to be someone else.
  • Avoid spam: Do not post irrelevant advertisements or promotional material. This includes making lots of comments that do not provide any value to the blog and other readers. Remember many readers are subscribed to all new comments on specific pages and will receive an e-mail whenever you leave a comment.
  • Search for answers before commenting. If you have a question, especially about a popular topic/post chances are it has already been asked. You can search the comments by using the comment search bar, more information here.
  • Add a picture to your e-mail. It’s easier to recognize regular contributors if you use an image associated with your e-mail address, more information here.
  • Please do not double post. If you don’t leave your e-mail when commenting, or if your comment contains links or certain words it might need manual approval. Please be patient and wait for the comment to be approved instead of posting it again.
  • You can tag other users.
    • Find a comment from the person from anywhere on the site. Make a note of the comment id (this is a number that looks like “2007558”)
    • Type (copying and pasting does not work) the following: “@ guest _ comment#” (without the quotes and spaces).

If I’ve missed anything, please share it in the comments below. We do greatly appreciate everybody that makes this community so positive and provides useful datapoints and deals. We would like to keep it that way.

  • The recent comments here are getting increasing dumber and off-topic. Maybe it's time to lock them, Will.

      • "Nice try" - What exactly do you think I was trying?

A simple "That wouldn't work because it could be used to spread malware" would've sufficed.

          • Aaron wants Will to allow a feature that would compromise the entire site. Nothing wrong with that at all.

  • Me and my friends set the over under at 10 for how many times Eric will make unnecessary comments on this post

Looks like the under may win.

Now would be a great time to start removing unnecessary posts @william@charles

  • It was smart that @2 only made us agree to the "comment rules" once. That may motivate some people that don't use an email address to start using one to avoid that annoyance each time they comment. 😉

      • Eric, annoying? Thats a bit far. Fastidious, petty, pedantic.. these are better descriptors. He keeps us on our toes, pretty good at reading terms and strategizing to max a bonus offer, and I bet he wears a sweet fedora.

See this is the kind of guy we would loose if we had downvotes, because I guarantee his comments would be stoned to oblivion like in r/churning. There also everyone is afraid to ask a "stupid" question or even add some advice because downvotes, so it becomes an oppressed forum for discourse.

This place is quite different (no oppression of discourse) but obviously it is still easy to be a troll. So my advice is, if your gonna troll, be funny ffs.

  • This article has been pushed to the second page already? This party ended before it even started.
