We’ve noted that Plastiq has been earning double rewards with Amex under the 2x Small Business Promo.
Interestingly, Plastiq released a blog post today officially advertising this point.
It makes me a bit more confident that the promo will stick around. I’d guess Plastiq verified their credentials and are confident it will continue working until year’s end.
2x Membership Rewards alone isn’t bad for the 2.25% Amex processing fee, but it could be much better if you have to meet a spend bonus or if you other are getting another 1x with SPG under promotion or if you get 2.5x with Everyday Preferred. Etc. [Update: Two comments indicate that the 2x promo is not working with SPG for some reason.]

Yes, I have the confirmation email for each of my amex cards that are all enrolled on 10/17/16 and the payment to Plastiq posted on 10/27/16
I am not seeing bonus points coming in for plastiq rent payment with SPG personal although my card has been registered. Anybody had success getting bonus points for plastiq rent payments with spg card?
Simply tell Plastiq to change the coding to "Utility" so that Ink user can grab this deal. They charge 2% but Ink user can get 3%. That will definitely boost up the application of ink for Chase. Maybe Plastiq can even place an affiliate link for Chase Ink sign up, 1 stone 2 birds. 7-11 is coding gas while they don't sell any gas so I don't see why not for Plastiq to code Utility.
I suspect it's not purely the merchant's call as to how it's coded. Think about Cardcash, which used to be in a 5X Ink category, but was changed. That certainly wasn't to their advantage. BTW, some 7-11's do sell gas.
Just FYI, I made a payment with Plastiq a couple days before my SPG Amex statement closed. I did NOT receive bonus points for this payment and my card is definitely registered for the promotion so YMMV. It appears I did receive bonus points for some other small business purchases. Would be interested in hearing other data points.
JB- That doesn't make sense to me. AMEX has one network and it doesn't seem possible they'd code something as small business for one card and not another.
Could it be that the date of your small business purchases that counted were earlier in the cycle and your double points for plastiq will be on the next statement?
I agree it's interesting that the terms specifically say 2x MR, nothing about cash back or SPG points.

Two data points that it doesn't work with SPG. Reason isn't clear.
How does the Amex Plat Biz $5,000 + 1.5X work with the 2X small biz? Do they not stack?
Yup, you should get 2.5x on a payment of $5k+.
Customer Service claims that they do not.
