Portal Clawback for Giftcards.com Mastercard Gift Cards, Increases Limit to $60,000 [Update: Reversals Made In Error]

Update: GiftCards.com has confirmed that most of these reversals were made in error and GiftCards.com is now working to correct this. Some people are already having their reversals fixed, but it could take several days to fix it for everybody. This is great news.

A lot of people got reversal notifications from Yazing (and perhaps other portals) for their Mastercard gift card purchases. Back in April, Giftcards.com stopped paying out for Visa gift cards, but Mastercard gift cards were still working, as per the terms. Now they are clawing back all portal trackings for purchases since July 14th. (HT: Travelwithgrant)

Yazing reached out to users to inform them of the unexpected clawback, and that they are waiting on Giftcards.com to hear why these happened. They also indicate that no official changes were made in the portal payout details, meaning that Mastercard gift cards from Giftcards.com should still be eligible for portal payout.

There are two issues at stake, one is the pending portal cash which a lot of people were waiting on, for many in the thousands of dollars. And the other is whether they’ve now removed Mastercard from affiliate payouts going forward.

Hopefully it’s just some kind of error. If not, Giftcards.com should at least make good on the portal payout for everything until they enact an official change (which they still haven’t enacted). Yazing has removed the Giftcards.com brand for now while other portals are still showing Mastercard eligible as before.

In an interesting move, the $30,000 monthly limit for the Giftcards.com and Giftcardmall sites found across portals has been been increased to $60,000.

  • The GC team has gotten back to us and confirmed that the vast majority of the reversals were made in error. They are working to correct those now. Please watch your Yazing.com dashboard and transaction emails over the next few days and if there are any valid orders that haven’t been resolved by the end of the week, please submit a support ticket with the transaction information and order confirmation emails and we will work with GC to get answers and hopefully resolve any outstanding issues in short order.

Thanks for your patience and continued support.

  • I was expecting an update on this from Adam once the work week started. So far radio silence. This isn't good.

  • I'm still showing every one of my transactions as pending and not reversed, for all of July 1 through yesterday. Well over $500 pending in cashback; did have one that did not track right, but Adam sent me an email saying he's investigating that one. Nbd either way since it was only around 15 bucks for that one transaction

  • I haven't had any clawbacks on Yazing, but I haven't been hitting it hard.

And Yazing has not removed GCC from their site.

  • I didn't buy any, but an easy way to get back at them would be attempt to return orders and if they refuse, file a chargeback. Even if it doesn't work, they have to waste tons of time researching and responding to the CC companies. If they don't respond or give insufficient response, the charge is automatically refunded and GC.com is out of their money.

    • I would imagine most people ordering GCs through portals liquidate them almost immediately...can't really return a liquidated GC unless you want to commit fraud.

      • How many MS'R really want eyes on their accounts? More so if your cycling CL. Cost of the churn, does not make it feel any better.

Not been hitting it hard lately but question I'm wondering if it was a pump'n'dump by the seller (i.e. were CB% higher than normal even prior to the clawbacks?)

    • Thats the issue with any portal or company you have no recourse unless you hire a lawyer and go after them and in most cases legal costs with be more than amount.

  • I have a small purchase from giftcards.com on 7/18 through Top Cash Back that is still showing pending as normal. Is this clawback a Yazing issue only?
