Our Verdict

We once saw a $75 bonus on SoFi Invest via referral link, though that one required $1,000 deposit. This is the simplest offer we’ve seen, and could be a nice bonus even for someone who doesn’t want to invest the funds as you can simply signup and do the deposit to get the $75 bonus.

I’d wait 32 days until the reward posts before pulling the funds out, but I don’t see any official requirement of such. The $75 probably won’t get reported on a form 1099, though legally you might have to self-report the bonus. We’ll add this to our list of Best Brokerage Bonuses.

If you’re new to Swagbucks, please read our review. You can also get a bonus of up to $13 by using a referral link.

Post history:

  • Update 8/13/23: Back up to $200 now
  • Update 3/22/23: Up to $150 now (still not the high $200 bonus)
  • Update 2/1/23: Down to $100 now
  • Update 1/31/23: Offer is back now, but it’s showing the lower $150 bonus now (at one point this was $200)(ht Mark)
  • Update 11/4/22: Increased now from $150 to $200
  • Update 9/29/22: Back again at $150
  • Update 7/25/22: Bonus is now $150 (up from $121). Some people have had tracking issues with the checking offer so keep that in mind.
  • Update 3/28/22: Increased to $121.50 on Swagbucks Revenue Universe or about $125 on MyPoints Revenue Universe. This one has a lower $50 deposit requirement, but does require a crypto trade (any amount). (ht Kris)
  • Update 3/12/22: Increased to $100; Update 11/8/21: Has been reduced to $60.

  • I tried this - deposited $50 then $51 within a few days of starting the sofi account. I was denied by Rakuten specifically because they said that the initial deposit has to be $100 and mine was only $50. So despite the ambiguous language, it is NOT about cumulative deposits over the intro period.

Note: I was using a slightly different version of the offer described here, where the minimum initital deposit was $100 rather then $50, but presumably they use the same rules.

    • Same here. The post was not updated to show that it's $50 anymore but $100. Sucks that we both missed the opportunity

  • I opened this account on 4/18 and immediately set up a $101 deposit. Still hasn't pulled from my bank account and in SoFi it still just shows in the "pending" section - is this common/normal on SoFi?

    • For me it meant additional verification of the bank account (e.g., monthly statement) your pulling from was required. Had to chat and they sent over the request. Only could see the banner when I clicked on the invest account itself

  • Rakuten never gave bonus.
    Sofi never give me bonus.
Professional churner I used at least 20 banks.
These 2 sofi and Rakuten are just scammers.

    • Same here. Opened SoFi Self-directed Invest on 3/25/2025 and immediately deposited $100. Now, Rakuten showing "Ineligible".

  • Would this be considered a rebate or included in taxable income? Would rakuten issue a 1099?

  • Can this Sofi Invest Account be churned? Had an account about 5 years ago. Officially the T&C say: "Cash Back is only available for new SoFi Active Invest customers."

  • I got to give my input. I had a sofi invest account and left a couple hundred dollars there as a side account. 6 months later I received an email stating they sold some of my Securities to cover a $25 inactivity fee because I DID NOT LOG INTO MY ACCOUNT FOR 6 MONTHS! They would not reverse, even after I opened a CFPB complaint they would not reverse.
    I never understand.

    • That's terrible, I would never leave money in here other than to get the bonus. I almost feel duped just for going for the bonus.
