[Targeted] Amex Offer $10 Off $75 Cellphone Bill

The Offer

  • Spend $75 on your cellphone bill with your Amex card and receive a $10 statement credit.
  • The following cellphone carriers are eligible for this offer: AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, US Cellular, or Verizon.
  • You can use this offer 3 times. You can pay 3 $75 bills and you’ll receive the $10 credit for each one.

As always, be sure to open separate tabs with each card that has the offer – if you see more than one with the offer in the same login – so that you can get it on all of them.

The Fine Print

  • This offer is targeted. Check your Amex login to see if your card is eligible.
  • Card must be enrolled by 4/14/15.
  • $75 charge must be made by 7/15/15.
  • Must use on carrier’s website. Phone payments and payments made at retail locations are excluded from the terms.
  • Not valid on prepaid phone plans.

Our Verdict

We wrote about a similar offer a while back. That one was also targeted and I was lucky to find it in one of our logins. That time, I was able to save it on a few cards in the login using the multi-tab trick and we were able to use each enrolled card 3 times, so we got lots of use out of that offer. This time, I only saw it on one of my cards so far. Hopefully, I’ll check better and find it on a couple more.

From my experience with Sprint, you can:

  • split one bill into multiple payments
  • over-pay and use the balance for the future.

These factors are critical in maximizing the offer. I saw on MilesToMemories that T-Mobile also allows splitting the payment. I don’t know about other carriers. Try it out and let us know in the comments!

  • My husband fot the offer on three of his cards, and I received none. Will the offer work on a cell phone in my name?

    • In my experience with Sprint, it would work.

The question is only from the carriers prospective, whether they'll allow a charge on a card without your name (I'd guess that all will allow that). But if that goes through, I can't see any reason whatsoever that the amex credit won't come through.

  • Thanks for the heads up. It showed on 50% of my accounts. Now time to see how easy this is to split and overpay with Verizon. I will update once I know more.

  • The terms state prepaid accounts are not eligible, but wonder if that'll actually apply for T-Mobile prepaid accounts.

  • The fine print says 'Limit 3 statement credits per American Express online account'. So it might not work on multiple cards, if you have them on the same account.

    • That's the typical lingo. I can't guarantee anything, but I can say that the previous amex cellphone offer it worked for me on multiple cards in the same account.
