There’s been a number of reports of bonus signup offers from Amex targeted at various people. MilesToMemories recently posted about some Costco cardholders getting offers as Amex tries to retain them in the upcoming Amex/Costco separation, but there’s also been some offers which targeted at non-Costco cardholders and first-time cardholders.
Here’s a look at some of the targeted offers:
- $250 on Amex Blue Cash Everyday with just $1000 minimum spend. This is really an awesome offer and quite uncommon.
- $250 on Blue Cash every day with $3000 minimum spend. This is what we usually see as the targeted Blue Cash Preferred offer. Great offer for the Everyday.
- $200 on Blue Cash Everyday after spending $3000. A few others in the comments there got the same offer.
- 25,000 Membership Reward points on Amex Everyday with $2000 minimum spend (1, 2). Very good offer. Again, this is an offer we would have expected more on the Preferred version, great to see it on the Everyday version.
These are really good offers, hopefully more of us will see some of these. As always, you can view your prequalified offers from Amex and from all other card issuers.
It will be interesting to see how Amex goes about trying to retain their Costco cardholders over the next year or two. Keep in mind that if you do receive a targeted Amex offer, you may be able to get the bonus even if you got the bonus previously. Be sure to check the Terms to see if it disqualifies previous cardholders.
Personally, I have no luck at all with Amex prequalified, and not much luck with any others either. I’m on the fence now to apply for the $200 Blue Cash Preferred offer. Of course, if I keep thinking about it too long the offer may be gone. Our review of the new Visa cards can be found here.

I am an American Express Costco cardholder, I got a $200 Blue Cash Everyday with $1,000 spend, which looks like just a cross between two of the above mentions.
I clicked the link to the DOC post from 5/11/14 and followed the directions to see my prequalified Amex offers, but that icon didn't appear for me on their website. Is that a feature Amex has disabled on their website or can only certain accounts see that?
Not sure. I think I got it to work when I tried once, but I never get any good offers anyway.
