Venmo allows you to add credit cards (and prepaid Visa/Mastercard/American Express) to make transfers to friends & family. Previously they allowed 8 separate credit/debit cards over a rolling 6-month period. @J_Turnbow points out that the limit has now been decreased to 4 cards per rolling 6-months, including deleted cards. Credit and debit cards all count toward the limit.
I know some people like flipping out their Venmo card based on which card they are trying to rack up spend on. This changes makes it a more limited option. Venmo charges a 3% fee on credit card transactions and no fee on debit card or ACH transactions.
You can still use Paypal to send money to friends for a 2.9% fee. Another way to rack up spend is by paying bills with Plastiq for a 2.5% fee.

What a joke. I use Venmo for spending in different accounts and now I can’t because I got a $5 reward to spend on another card....
In case anyone is a dumb-dumb like me trying to figure out when you added Cards 1, 2, 3, and 4, so you can add the next one, I finally remembered Venmo emails you every time you add a new card to you account, so you can count back from there.
For those who have the venmo card, does it count toward the 4 card limit?
To clarify: It's a CARD limit not CREDIT CARD limit, right? i.e. Debit cards count against the 4?
Right, let me clarify
Do any VGC or MCGC brands still load o Venmo?
Most VGCs load to venmo once you register them online. Vanilla do not work in my experience.
My vanilla didn't load to Venmo either, it kept saying zip code was wrong. I'll try again later since I just updated the zip code right now online.
Were you ever able to get these to work?
does VGCs fee free or do we still need to pay 3% fee?
No fees for prepaid debit cards
USB MCGC do.
I thought it already was 4, or at least less than 8. Did they raise it a year or two AGO?
I believe the old limit was actually 6, not 8. But it has certainly been reduced to 4. Learned that after trying to add >4 MCGCs... for the record, MCGCs load normally (like a VGC) at Dollar General via Serve.
MCGCs can be liquidated at WM
MCGCs also load normally (like a VGC) at Family Dollar via Serve.
I thought Serve was dead? How are you able to load anything to them without getting shut down? Or are you just not ACHing out?
it was 6 last year, raised to 8 a few months ago, now it's down to 4
I was capped at 6
