    • "If you were in the [Grand Canyon] Museum Collections Building (2C) between the year 2000 and June 18, 2018, you were 'exposed' to uranium by OSHA's definition," "stored next to a taxidermy exhibit, where children on tours sometimes stopped for presentations, sitting next to uranium for 30 minutes or more. By his calculation, those children could have received radiation dosages in excess of federal safety standards within three seconds, and adults could have suffered dangerous exposure in less than a half-minute."

      :-o

  • I think sometimes you just need to lay down the law. If employees are inappropriately missing scheduled work and it's lead to a maintenance emergency then threatening to fire people isn't out of line -- it let's the employees who do show up know that the bad actors won't get a free pass and makes it clear to the bad actors that it won't be tolerated.

    • The article points out the issue is maintenance needs to ramp up because too many issues are happening daily. That could be caused by many factors. Are the planes new and need burn-in? Are they old and thus need more work? And many others. What isn't ok is threatening people for no cause of their actions. My former boss was fired because of the constant threats making people feel harassed and bullied, let alone fearful for their jobs. And many good employees had enough and mentioned to higher-ups that they would leave if it wasn't dealt with.

      • Glad to see your company dealt with it as many don't take it seriously.

I left a similar situation but unfortunately the problem boss was also the majority owner of the company so no boss above him to report to.

  • I also found it a little strange that Southwest went so dark side considering that they have always tried to have the image of the fun time, less rules carrier. Seems more like an AA or United move.

  • Thanks doc! That tool is really awesome.

Now we just need an awardhacker mashup and I would be in heaven.

    • I don't quite understand the tool. It says it finds the cheapest return flights to your city? I was thinking it gave one way ideas of all flights to my city.
