Increased American Express Credit Card Bonuses (Incognito) Are Back + List Of Offers, Working from Referral Link Too [YMMV]

Update 2/28/19: Green card also showing up with 25,000 via referral. Hat tip to cowsareverywhere.

It’s possible to get increased sign up bonuses on many American Express cards again, these are often referred to incognito mode offers as it’s possible to get them to show up by using incognito mode. If that doesn’t work, try one of these methods instead.

Interestingly, some people are having success seeing these increased offers even when using a referral link (or self referral), but only some referrals links from some cards are seeing the increased offers, not links from other cards. Typically, using an incognito offers makes you lose out on the referral credit and isn’t necessarily the best deal anymore, depending on the situation. If you can get the increased offers in conjunction with a referral link it makes these offers really incredible.

Here are some of the offers:

I noticed these too when started a referral application from AmEx Green. Perfect timing, picked up $350 BCP that I planned anyway.

Also listed AmEx Platinum with 75K points.

I’m getting them to show up from my BGR as well. So a referral for 20,000MR ($250 Schwab) + $250 for Cash Magnet. $500 for $1000 spend. Can’t beat that return. Only problem is eating up a credit card spot but it may be worth it!

You’re seeing 30k EDP and 25k ED offers from BGR referral? Cause I cannot. Can get those to show up with ED referral though.

Mike

Yeah cant replicate anymore should have probably jumped on the offer but was planning on Hilton as my next card and the 100K are worth at minimum $200 and that’s through crappy amazon conversion.

If it makes any difference earlier I did the ed first like the post said but then decided to try my bgr. Maybe that is the difference?

From Platfinum refferal I am seeing right now:
Platinum: 75k
Gold: 40k
ED: 25k
EDP: 20k
BCE: $250

Don’t forget if you self refer you’ll be paying taxes on the referral now, 1099 style. Consider your tax bracket, referral bonus, incognito offer, etc.

I agree it sucks but it’s a little overrated. So say I use the BGR like above for a $250 reward. It costs me $50 maybe a little more or less depending on tax bracket. Still better than the $0 of not using one.

Right, I should’ve been more specific. Say you have a 10k referral bonus that gives a 15k sign up bonus. Or, there’s a incognito 25k sign up bonus. Both will yield the same number of points. Going the referral route means you’ll get the 10k within a couple of days, no need to wait, but you’ll pay taxes on the 10k referral. If you go straight up incognito you’ll need to finish all spend requirements before the points post, but they are tax free. Depending on your bracket & circumstances (I NEED 10k MR NOW!) one may be more preferable than the other.

No doubt and your scenario makes perfect sense. I guess I’m still shaking my head at the guys over at reddit/churn that were up in arms “I’m never using Amex again!… Okay let me do another bank referral…” that think American Express owes them tax free money but PNC etc can tax them if they want.

Frank

It’s also income that should have been reported anyway…. “damn you amex for not allowing my tax evasion”

I think people were more up in arms about getting taxed on annual fee credits and the plenty of mistakes that were made. I was taxed on the $50 credit toward my $99 Southwest Premier annual fee. I don’t know of any other non-banking companies out there that 1099 discounts/rebates.

Getting the referral is obviously preferable in every case. The taxes are always less than the value of the referral, since that is literally what a tax is.

You are totally wrong. There are plenty of situations where an extra dollar of income costs you thousands of dollars. (E.g. see MoreSun’s comment.)

MoreSun

Its all about your specific situation so it’s a good heads up. If that $250 pushes your income over 400% FPL for ACA benefits you could be screwed with thousands of dollars owed to Uncle Sam.

These were never gone. I have been seeing them consistently for the last many months. Did the referral from platinum to Platinum (75k) and Everyday (25k) both this week and 3 weeks ago for certain.

Tip: After opening the referral link in incognito, if the offers are not the increased one, simply HUCA (Close the browser, try again). No additional gymnastics were need in my case as the good offers consistently show up after 2-5 tries.

I am not seeing any of this except 50000 for gold. In fact when I keep trying again the cash magnet goes down 200 to 150. Who can send me one of their 250 referrals or is that against the rules?

This link just worked for me. Try a different computer or private browser. Worked on one of my laptops but not the other.

Please remove if against the rules.

I have not seen the baidu method work for the personal plat 100k bonus in awhile. Can we just call that dead instead of keep linking to it?

William Charles

Pretty sure it’s still working for some people, it’s just highly targeted.

Lucas
Lucas

If you are targeted, you are targeted and baidu does not matter. Baidu is useful for seeing other offers, but for the 100k plat, it does nothing.

William Charles

100k plat also shows up as an incognito offer as well as a pre-approval, it’s just a lot rarer than the other offers.

I got the 100k personal plat offer through multiple baidu attempts a month ago

literally just applied for the BCP with $250 offer. How good is Amex to matching bonus offers?

Tried using these but no success. Thanks anyways gentlemen.

What exactly is incognito mode? I think I know but want to be sure.

Josh
Josh

In chrome you can launch Incognito (CTRL + SHIFT + N) which is essentially an isolated Chrome instance without and prior cookies / most extensions etc.

I see the 30K everyday preferred with my regular Everyday referral. With business gold i only see 20K. Looks like Amex is capping the point dole out to 40K. They leave it to the referrer and referred to figure the split. If one has to self refer for the EDP, its best to use the ED link as the tax liability is limited to 10K points instead of the 20K from the Business gold.

I got an offer for $200 (instead of $250) for the Blue Cash Everyday. Better than the $150 I was seeing before. I was approved, and this is my third card this month and first AmEx ever. Thanks!

NBG

After multiple tries got the $250 BCE to show up for the Amex Plat 15K ref. Approved. Already have a BCP.

What do you mean by multiple tries exactly?

NBG
NBG

Trying in incognito mode multiple times after clearing cookies each time and as well as multiple browsers

It’s funny I’ve been waiting for elevated delta and the good incognito offers to pop up through Plat referral… got both today but only one cc slot… went delta in a heartbeat

Dylan

If you had to pick one offer to take advantage of… which would it be? I think Cash Magnet or Everyday Preferred.

last round, i would get the dreaded “you will not get a bonus” warning message on cards I’ve never had before. This round, things seem more relaxed. I was able to get the Green card for the 25k bonus. Thanks!!
