Increased American Express Delta Offers Still Available

Update 4/5/19: Some other sites were saying that these deals would end on April 5th, that was only the offers on affiliate links. Increased offers for both these personal and also the business cards are still available through May 1st with referral links.

American Express has released new increased offers on Delta cards. These offers are currently only available via referral links (do not share your links here. Instead you can share them in this linked post. Please read the rules carefully). Remember you can self refer and that American Express sends out 1099’s for referrals. The offers are available until May 1st, 2019. The offers are as follows:

American Express Delta Gold

• 60,000 miles + $50 after $2,000 in spend within the first three months

Card details

• Card earns at the following rates:
  • 2x miles on all purchases made directly with Delta
  • 1x miles on all other purchases
• No foreign transaction fees

American Express Delta Platinum

• 75,000 miles  + 5,000 MQM for $3,000 in spend within the first three months
• Additional $100 statement credit after your first purchase

Card details

• Annual fee of $195 is not waived
• Card earns at the following rates:
  • 2x miles on all purchases made directly with Delta
  • 1x miles on all other purchases
• Receive another 10,000 MQM after you spend $25,000 or more within a calendar year and an additional 10,000 MQM when you spend $50,000 or more within a calendar year for a total of 20,000 MQM (plus the sign up bonus)
• No foreign transaction fees
• Receive a Domestic Main Cabin round-trip companion certificate each year upon renewal of your Card (Payment of the government imposed taxes and fees of no more than $75 for roundtrip domestic flights (for itineraries with up to four flight segments) is required)
• Delta MQD Waiver For Diamond To Be Increased To $250,000 (From $25,000) For 2019 Qualification Year

American Express Delta Reserve Card

• 75,000 miles + 5,000 MQM after $5,000 in spend within the first three months

Card details

• $450 annual fee, not waived the first year
• $250,000 spend across all American Express Delta cards currently results in a MQD waiver through Diamond Medallion.  (previously $25,000)
• Delta Sky Club access (can also bring two guests for $29 per person. Keep in mind you must be arriving or departing on a Delta marketed or operated flight to be eligible for access). Authorized users also get this access, previously they were $175 each but possibly free now?
• Companion Certificate (domestic first class or main cabin round trip companion)
• Card earns at the following rates:
  • 2x miles on Delta purchases
  • 1x miles on all other purchases
• Holding this card is used as a tie breaker for upgrades

Our Verdict

This is the best public offer we’ve seen on the Platinum card, previous best was 70k + $100 + 10k MQM (that deal might have been better depending on how you value the MQM). We’ve seen better offers on the Reserve & Gold card before and better targeted offers on the Platinum as well. Remember this offers all contain the once per lifetime language so you’re not eligible if you’ve had the cards before.

Personally I wouldn’t consider the Gold or Reserve, but the Platinum might be worth considering especially if you’re self referring and have an immediate/near need for Delta miles. Otherwise it might make sense to just wait for a better offer to come along. I’ll likely add the Platinum card to our list of the best credit card bonuses.
