  • Companion Certificate (domestic first class or main cabin round trip companion)
  • Card earns at the following rates:
    • 2x miles on Delta purchases
    • 1x miles on all other purchases
  • Holding this card is used as a tie breaker for upgrades

Our Verdict

We’ve seen a bigger bonus on the Delta Reserve. We’ve also seen the Platinum with the same 70,000 miles, but with 10,000 MQM and a lower minimum spend bonus. As far as I know this is the equal best offer on the Gold card, but I could very well be wrong about that (please correct me in the comments). None of the offers are particularly interesting but if you have a short term need for Delta miles then the Platinum/Gold would be your best bet. If you have any questions about American Express cards, read this post first. I likely won’t be adding any of these to our list of the best credit card bonuses.

Datapoint for American Express Gold Delta SkyMiles Business credit card:
7/1/2019 – Applied and Approved, needed to call in to provide more information
8/1/2019 – MS met
8/4/2019 – Bonus Posted, 33k miles + 37k miles = 70k miles (don’t know why this was done in two batches)

I also did get the $50 for a purchased one way Delta flight.

The link is showing significantly lower bonuses. Guessing it ended early?

These are still available via referrals. Happy to send them to you a referral but I don’t believe that is allowed.

Bummer , should have read new comments – would have applied yesterday as planned.

They also killed the 6 months 0% as well

The offers look like they’ve gone back to normal on delta.com/amex, but if you click on the offer terms they still state the elevated bonuses.

William Charles It looks like the expiration date for this offer may have changed since your original post which listed the offer expiration date as May 1st. The offer expiration is currently April 3rd. According to the offer terms “If your application is not received by 04/03/2019, we will not process your application even if we later receive your application”.

In case anyone wants to get the increased offers (personal/biz) from their own referral links, you can generate the links by logging in here: https://idap-e3.americanexpress.com/referafriend/us/en/un/205576/login?extlink=US-MGM-DeltaFeb19PartnerSiteSkysquare
IT may be that you can do so only if you already have a Delta card, but not sure about that.  William Charles
P.S. The above is not a referral link, only a url to generate your own link so you get both the increased bonus and the referral bonus. This link appears in my Delta login, but I’m not rewarded for sharing this. This is what I meant by Delta redirection above.

Any idea why this won’t let me self refer biz gold but I can self refer the other three?

What’s a good purchase I can make from home that would trigger statement credit? If I buy a Delta gift card, can I use that gift card to pay for award flight fees with delta alliance flights?

70k+50 Delta biz gold and 80k/6k+100 Delta biz platinum showing from my own referral links (referral bonus is 10k miles) now.  William Charles Interesting thing is that I don’t see higher referral offers if I try to self-refer from my Amex login (these show 5k referral bonus and the lower 30k/35k offers), but these appear if I redirect from an offer (refer and earn 10k, friend earns 70k/80k) found in my Delta login. Urge everyone to check their Delta logins and snag the 10k self-referral as well as the higher bonuses.

Any help for how to find this on Delta Login? I’ve looked around pre and post login and on the CC page under the Skymiles drop down. Thanks!

Anything to explain “if I redirect from an offer (refer and earn 10k, friend earns 70k/80k) found in my Delta login”?

Hey Doc can you help clarify – am I able to get both the personal gold and personal platinum at the same time? Received targeted offers for each, don’t see anything in the language restricting it, but want to confirm. Thanks.

Will MS’ing the MSR result in clawing back the Skymiles? Say 25% organic spend and 75% MS? Probably, right?

I don’t know how well they monitor this but I’d certainly have a backup plan. Hopefully they would just not give you the bonus vs clawing it back if they can see that you’ve only had $1k of organic spend. I would think the less hardcore approaches like paying taxes, utilities, store gift cards, etc would be fine but visa/mc/amex gift cards are clearly not, again assuming they can see that level of detail.

From the T&C under bonus miles section

“Eligible purchases are purchases for goods and services minus returns and other credits. Eligible purchases to meet the spend requirement do NOT include …cash advances, purchases of traveler’s checks, purchases or reloading of prepaid cards, purchases of gift cards, person-to-person payments, or purchases of any cash equivalents.”
