Never been to a Gelson's before but went tonight. Was pleased to find a decent GC selection. Like others said, didn't see Visa's but they did have a $500 MCGC. Tempted, but instead got Arco $50+$50+$25 gift cards, and cashier was happy to split tender for me. $60+$65 transaction = 24% discount on the cheapest gas in town. I'm happy!
@guest_719177 Did you split tender by swiping the same Amex card twice, or two different Amex cards? I never thought about doing a split tender with the same card before to get two transactions out of the same purchase. Would love confirmation that it worked if that's what you did.

I just got a $5 off $25 coupon in the mail too which is nice. It’s a beautiful store but eye-wateringly expensive so these 2 offers combined brings it back in range. Mostly.
No kidding. I have done rough comparisons across various grocery stores in my area of SoCal, and Gelson came out tops (if you like shelling out money) - ahead of Whole Foods! That's got to mean something.

I just bought $60 Gelson gift card two times and it triggered the Amex Offer. They consistently send out $5 off $25 coupons, which can be used regardless of the expiration date. They carry my favorite ice cream, so that's where I go...
Do they sell other store gift cards or Visa/Mastercard gift cards?
Yes. They have a reasonable collections of third-party GCs, including Shell and EBay. Some stores also had VGCs and MCs.
