The Offer

No direct link, targeted offer

  • Get a one-time $25 statement credit by using your enrolled Card to make a single purchase of $99.99 or more online at hbomax.com by 12/14/2021

The Fine Print

  • Offer valid online at hbomax.com for annual subscription purchases.
  • Purchases may not qualify if not billed directly by the merchant.
  • For example, if you purchased your subscription through a third party device/digital platform, you may get billed by the party you signed up with, and not directly by the merchant.

Our Verdict

HBO Max with ads is $99.99 annually, without ads is $149.99. Kind of ridiculous pricing with ads but that is the world we live in I guess. This is a nice $25 saving. Best to try and stack this with Swagbucks if possible.

  • Thats different, I remember it expiring in Sep last year not may. Maybe there will be another offer later. Even with the Rak stack with this its not as compelling with the price jump.

  • It does not show in the OP, the ad free plans have been renamed and the cheapest option is now $170 per year. The newly renamed Premium plan has 4K and Atmos but is $210 per year, and can only be had as a standalone product as it is not available in any Disney bundle. Ouch!

  • They offer 2.99/mo for like 6 months about twice a year. I think only Netflix completely stopped offering discounts and various credits.

  • $99 for hbomax? LOL. What the hell happened? They are vying for worst streaming service with netflix.

    • To each their own. That's why there are so many choices of streaming services. What one likes another may not.

  • Holy Cow did the price went up significantly since last year. Even with this deal it wont make up the price increase.

  • Signed up on July 20 and didn't trigger. Also got 1% instead of 6% rewards as I should have with Amex Blue Cash Preferred for select U.S. streaming subscriptions. Amex customer service just stonewalling as usual.

    • @guest_1880551 If you only signed up three days ago, how do you know it didn't trigger? I'd give it a few days after the charge actually posts. I don't have the Preferred so don't know how streaming credits but the online extra rewards for the Cash version can take up to a week to update to 3%.

      • Whenever I don't get an immediate email from Amex about using an offer, the statement credit doesn't post without manual intervention. And I have never seen rewards change after posting, but I suppose it's possible.

        • I rarely get Amex offer redeemed emails anymore. I just check under the savings tab a couple days after posting.

          • I think it shows up in the Savings tab at the same the rewards are posted. Based on the fact that both the rewards and the offer are not working, I am guessing there was a change in how the charge is coded that Amex is not aware of.
