The Fine Print
- To receive the $150 reward, you must use your Local Bank offer code when opening a new Local Bank consumer checking account, which is subject to approval, by December 31, 2025 and receive $1,000 or more in qualifying electronic deposits within 90 calendar days of account opening (the “qualification period”). A qualifying electronic deposit is a deposit of funds, such as your salary, government benefit payment, or other income, that has posted to your account and is a direct deposit made through the Automated Clearing House (ACH) network, Transfers from one account to another, mobile deposits, or deposits made at a branch or ATM are not considered a qualifying electronic deposit.
- To receive the $100 reward, you must use your Local Bank offer code when opening a new Local Bank consumer checking account, which is subject to approval, by December 31, 2025 and complete at least 30 qualifying transactions within 90 calendar days of account opening (the “qualification period”). Qualifying transactions include debit card purchases, online bill payments, ACH Credits, or mobile deposits.
- After the 90-day qualification period, if you have met all requirements, we will deposit the reward(s) into your new account within 30 calendar days. Your new account must stay open through the time we attempt to deposit the reward. We may close accounts with a zero balance without prior notice. You are responsible for any taxes due on the reward. We will report the reward as income to tax authorities, as required by applicable law. If you are subject to backup withholding at the time of payment, we may withhold the required amount and remit to tax authorities.
- These offers are for new consumer checking customers only and are available only to the primary owner of the new checking account. The primary account owner is the owner whose Taxpayer Identification Number, such as a Social Security Number, is assigned to the account and has tax responsibility. Offers are not available to customers that received a bonus for opening a Local Bank consumer checking account within the past 12 months, Local Bank employees and non-resident aliens or foreign entities signing any version of IRS Form W-8 are not eligible for this offer.
- All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them
Avoiding Fees
Monthly Fees
There is a $5 monthly fee, this is avoided with eStatements
Early Account Termination Fee
I was unable to find a fee schedule so unsure
Our Verdict
Terms are a bit confusing, looks like you need to open in branch but there is a promo code and can open online? Not entirely sure what’s going on.

I'm not sure if this was there before today, but as of 8/19 it says in a banner at the top of the bonus page "Offer valid for Alabama and Florida residents only"
I believe it was only added today 8/19
8/12/25 - Opened account online (OOS). Chex pulled.
8/15/25 - Second Chex pull.
8/19/25 - Account Closed. Email from Local Bank:
Thank you for your interest in banking with us. After careful review, we have identified concerns with your application. In accordance with our security protocols, we have made the decision to close your account as a precautionary measure.
opened on 8/17 from CT. No issues, funded regularly. LOL/Chex. Received a phone call next day asking about how I heard of them, and asked about online enrollment process satisfaction. Told her it was nice and easy, and I was referred from a "doctor" friend :)
Lol
Thanks for the OOS datapoints, I’m not going to risk this for $100
I've called this bank. Yes Chex, no hard credit pull. They only have like 3 branches total, so I'm not sure this is going to end well now that it's on DOC lol.
Just opened an account online, the process was smooth and fast. I'm way OOS in the US (and my current IP shows Europe). For the $100 funding, I chose an ACH transfer from Neighbors. Will wait a couple weeks before setting up a DD, and will update should the account get closed during the next few days, but so far so good.
PS: The EATF is $5 is the account is closed within 30 days, so it's irrelevant for those seeking the bonus.
P1 and P2 applied on 8/11/25 and were auto approved with high chex counts. Funded with same CC but only P1 got a call saying that CC was marked as fraud and accounts will be closed. P2 did not receive a call. Login still works for both P1 and P2.
Also used the message chat when logged in to ask for promo code to be added. Both P1 and P2 received responses that the code will be added when requirements are completed (the response was edited).
Exactly the same experience. Auto-approved with LOL Chex (70+/12).
Also asked CS about the promo and got the same response.
Several of us tried this before it hit the site and have seen our CC charges reversed and double Chex hits. I got saw my CC charge of $500 with Double cash post even though I got an email from them saying they reversed it. The day after I saw it post I emailed and that's when I got the second Chex hit. Still waiting to find out if my account will remain open. I'm LOL/24 on Chex and applied and "approved" from MA. Emailed after approval to have the promo code attached and was told it would be added.
I was one of those early applicants. Immediate approval from GA, able to set up online access, funding on CDC showed pending on citi.com. 2 days later received a call advising account had been closed due to potential fraud on my CC. Told I may receive the debit card, but would not be valid because my account was closed. Checked citi.com and the 2 $500 pending charges were gone. Received the debit card in the mail 2 days later.
I don't think these folks are ready for prime time.
