The qualifying checking account must be opened in a Truist branch in one of the above-listed states or online.
- All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them
Avoiding Fees
Monthly Fees
Simple business checking account has no monthly fees to worry about.
Early Account Termination Fee
Account needs to be kept open for 180 days otherwise the bonus is forfeit. No longer any EATF.
Our Verdict
Truist is the new name for the merged BB&T and SunTrust bank. BB&T has offered a $300 bonus in the past and SunTrust has offered a $400 bonus in the past. Now that this bonus is $400, it’s definitely worth doing.

After running into Truist bonus payout issues last year, hitting the personal and business bonuses pretty aggressively and successfully with multiple players and multiple legit businesses.
Previous year's DP: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/truist-200-business-checking-bonus-al-ar-ga-fl-in-ky-md-ms-nc-nj-oh-pa-sc-tn-tx-va-wv-or-dc/#comment-1855859
I highly recommend the phone appointment route. Remember to HUCA (hang up and call again) if you run into a clueless rep, especially one who doesn't know how to enroll the promotion over the phone.
Last week, had a phone rep review my previous accounts with Truist making sure I had my closure dates right for the next promotion. We even shared a laugh when she called me a pro who knew what I was doing with account openings lol XD
When you say do the phone appointment do you mean you scheduled one or did you just call 1 800 number and then open over the phone? I keep getting errors online when I try to apply using the link.
I'm also getting errors. I was able to call and we almost opened the account. But I got the personal bonus already so he stopped it.
Thanks for the reply and the Tip!
Since you have so much experience with Truist, I have a personal account and got a bonus last month from it, I was wondering if I can qualify for the business bonus. Agent on phone said she thinks so, there's mixed DP's on here and that scares me away from the offer, but it's such an easy and quick 400 so i'm torn.
I spoke to a rep and they told me that because of Sole Proprietor my SSN cannot be used because I got the promo on my personal which also uses my SSN. This sound suspicious because I don't see that explicitly stated in the terms and conditions. He wouldn't even try to proceed anyway for me. Wasted my time. Also wondering if anyone has recent DPs of this
Using exact same info as personal, I keep getting code 130. Tried with and without signing in when prompted.
Try with mobile device, Wi-Fi off.
It may be preventing me because my SSN is the same tax id for my sole Proprietor ownership. The agent on the phone would not allow me to proceed with the offer.
Still failed, also failed with a different browser too. Will try their phone appointment.
I have a personal checking account open that I recently received a 400 bonus from last month. If I use my EIN and sole prop to open a biz account, will I get bonus? I made sure to calk and ask an agent and she doesn’t see why not, so at least if they denied it to me I have some leverage to get it manually.

Can someone delete this comment? I meant to post it on the regular checking page for Truist
Wrong bonus page.
I opened a second one with EIN (SSN also attached as personal info I think). Today just received an email saying I am not eligible for the bonus. Months ago I just opened the first business with SSN as sole prop. I saw people opened the second one with EIN. What did I do wrong?
Same thing happened to me. Only thing I can think of is that you need to open both around the same time.
how long does it take to get the bonus after the initial deposit?
Have there been any success stories of a resident from out of the eligible states opening an LLC to obtain the bonus?
In theory this would work, no?
