  • Opened an account after numerous hoops, phone conversations, ID verifications, etc. and received a notice today that my account was overdrawn because of my linked bank's microdeposits and subsequent withdrawal. Never saw that before! This is one LOOPY bank!

    • FNB PA did that to me several years ago. Then, calling the 1-800 number, they would not or could not remove the overdraft fee and I had to call "my branch" 500 miles away and speak to the bank manager to get it waived.

Even since then, I am wary about trial deposits that might not be available for withdrawal when you are a new customer. Either their system doesn't see the micro deposits as available for withdrawal (due to new customer deposit hold times), or the withdrawal was processed before the deposits. I usually wait until the opening deposit shows as available, push money in via a bank that uses Plaid to verify, or use NFCU which doesn't use trials to avoid this situation.

      • I needed the microdeposits to verify the external account so I could make my initial deposit. So far I don't see an overdraft fee, but sometime those are assessed on the monthly statement.

  • applied for this 4 days ago and have heard nothing back so far...not even an e mail.

    • I did get an email thread going, but CSR told me yesterday it was no longer offered (but that I could open account without bonus). They haven't responded since I told them the webpage said otherwise. Even though I applied before they took it down, I am guessing they won't open new accounts under the offer after a deluge.

  • Strangest application process I have ever experienced; all Docusign and rather confusing.

  • @will It looks like it's open to everyone. I emailed customer service on Saturday and got this response: "We open all types of accounts to customers in all states. We do not run a credit check but we run Chex Systems on all new customers"
