• Heritage Bank is offering a bonus of $150 when you open a new checking account at the new  5801 Tacoma Mall Boulevard branch and complete the following requirements:
  • Deposit at least $100 at opening
  • Make 10 debit card purchases
  • Sign up for online banking

The Fine Print

• Bonus/Account Information: Offer valid until 12/31/18.
• Offer not available to existing Heritage Bank checking customers, those with fiduciary accounts, or those whose accounts have been closed within 90 days or closed with a negative balance.
• Employees of Heritage Bank and its affiliates are not eligible for this offer.
• To receive the bonus: 1) Open a new Heritage Bank checking account, which is subject to approval; 2) Deposit $100 or more at account opening; AND 3) Make at least 3 debit card purchases or 3 Person2Person payments within 45 days of account opening;
• After you have completed all the above requirements and the 3 qualifying transactions have posted to your account, we’ll deposit the bonus into your new account within 10 business days.
• You can receive only one new checking account related bonus each calendar year and only one bonus per account.
• Bonus is considered interest and will be reported on IRS Form 1099-INT (or Form 1042-S, if applicable).
• All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them

Base checking account has a $7 monthly fee, this is waived if you have a $100 minimum daily balance.

Early Account Termination Fee

I wasn’t able to find a fee schedule, so I’m unsure if there is any early account termination fee or not.

Our Verdict

Don’t get this confused with the other heritage bank that offers the 3.33% APY savings account. Seems like a very easy bonus to meet the requirements for. We just need to find out if it’s a soft or hard pull to open, should be possible to ask this before signing up. Shame it’s only available at a single branch. If it turns out to be a soft pull we will be adding this to our list of the best highly region specific bank bonuses.
