Avoiding Fees

This account has a $4 fee that you cannot avoid, you’ll be charged an additional $5 per month if you choose to receive a paper statement as well. You must keep the account open for a minimum of 90 days otherwise you will forfeit the bonus. There is also an early account termination fee of $75.

Our Verdict

They used to offer a $200 checking bonus with no requirements, that was obviously significantly better than this bonus with a lot of requirements. The only benefit to this new bonus is you can also get $50 for opening a savings account. Personally I’d wait and hope that the no bonus requirement bonus comes back. Their sister bank (KS, MO, NE, IA, WY, CO) has a similar bonus for $100 with no bonus requirement and you can do both if you live in an overlapping state.

For now I won’t be adding this to our list of the best bank account bonuses due to the fact they have offered better bonuses in the past.

Big thanks to reader, Curmudgeon who let us know. Learn how to find bonuses and contribute to the site here.

  • This offer is still open until Dec. 31, 2017

    My DPs:

08/15 – Opened checking with $100 and and savings with $200
3 pushes of $250+ from Chase and 1 push from Cap1 (coded as external transfer, but they worked toward the DD requirement)
11/14 – 3 bonuses posted: $50 for debit card, $50 for savings, $100 for DD

$50 for keeping account open for 90 days hasn't posted yet.

    • Final $50 bonus posted a few days later (around 11/20), for a total of $250 in bonuses, minus three months of $4 fees.

I closed the account 12/11 via chat after emptying both checking and savings. No problem.

  • Here are my data points:

6/7 - Opened checking and savings account, funded with credit card ($500 each)
    6/28 - completed 4 direct deposits
    7/10 - completed 20 debit card purchases
9/6 - received $50 savings account bonus, $50 debit card bonus, and $100 direct deposit bonus

Still waiting for $50 bonus for having the checking account open for at least 90 days. I will post an update when that bonus posts.

    • $50 bonus for keeping the account open for 90 days posted 2 days later on 9/8. I plan on closing this account at the beginning of October.

  • I live in Colorado and applied for both the Bank of Colorado and Pinnacle Bank checking accounts but Pinnacle Bank's bonus never posted. Finally got around to calling today and was told I am not eligible to receive both bonuses since they are "the same bank".

    • Yeah, I found that out after getting the Pinnacle Bank bonus and not being eligible for the higher Bank of Colorado one :(

      • Damn -- did Pinnacle in 2017 and would like to do the new B of CO now. Maybe I can convince P2 to do B of CO.

  • A couple of data points:
    - I did the bonus in October 2016 and funded with a Chase Freedom card that posted as a purchase.
    - My girlfriend funded with a Chase Southwest Rapids Rewards Plus card a couple weeks ago and that posted as a purchase as well.
