This looks to be the exact same offer & bank as the $100 Pinnacle bank offering (KS, MO, NE, IA, WY, CO), they service slightly different areas. According to this comment you can get both bonuses.
Offer at a glance

- Hard/soft pull: Soft
- Credit card funding: Up to $1,000
- Monthly fees: None

Avoiding Fees
This account has a $4 fee that you cannot avoid, you’ll be charged an additional $5 per month if you choose to receive a paper statement as well. You must keep the account open for a minimum of 90 days otherwise you will forfeit the bonus.
Our Verdict
Their previous bonus was one of the all time best bonuses as it didn’t have any requirements to get the bonus or keep the account fee free. This is a great bonus as well, but you’ll be hit with the $4 per month fee that is unavoidable. You only need to keep it open for 90 days to keep the bonus, so you’d probably end up paying $16 in fees. We’ve added this to our best bonus list because of how easy it is to get the bonus.
It’s great that you can get this bonus and the other $100 bonus from Pinnacle Bank if you live in one of the cross over states.

I signed up for this at the end of February. I just looked up the account disclosures (available on the application site) with the fee schedule, and there is indeed a $75 early termination fee if the account has not been open six months. So you actually have to have the account open for 6 months, which equals $24 of monthly fees. That’s still a net profit of $76 plus whatever credit card points you can get from funding the account with a credit card, so it’s still worth it for me, but might not be for others. And it looks like this offer has expired now anyway.
Thanks, will update post.
I opened this account back in October. Today I attempted to close it, however I was told I would be charged a $75 early closure fee for not having it open for at least 6 months. Seems like the bonus language was for 90 days, but the account still needs to be open for at least 6 months. Wondering if anyone else has experienced this?
Looks like the offer is extended to March 31st… 🙂 Wife and I got the Pinnacle bonus last year, I’m definitely gonna give it a go, might talk her into it once she tries and finishes up the Wells Fargo possibly targeted one…
Just as an FYI, there is a $200 bonus available in-branch at the Longmont, CO branch of Bank of Colorado. There is also a referral program for that branch: referrer gets $100 for anyone who opens a Diamond Secure account or the fee free account, and the referred party gets $200 or $100 respectively. There is a $75 early termination fee for accounts open less than 180 days, but the $200 bonus is still super easy and more lucrative than the fee-free account. I was also given a form for anyone who wanted to open an account at that branch remotely… Not sure if William Charles or Chuck are wanting to take on facilitating that, but maybe they or someone else has a suggestion.
Is there an online link to that offer?
No, unfortunately there isn’t any page showing the promo online as far as I know, only flyers in branch. I have pictures of those back and front, as well as the small cards they have at the branch for referrals. I’ll send you an email if you’d like.
Thanks, Dusty!
Here is the online offer for $200 that just started showing for Bank of Colorado: https://www.bankofcolorado.com/rockies-VIP
Offer expires March 31, 2017.
Thanks
There doesn’t seem to be much data as to what credit cards code as a purchase for Bank of CO. Although there is a little more data for Pinnacle Bank. I am looking to fund with a Cap One Venture Card, which appears to code a purchase per the Pinnacle Bank data point. However, this was back in February. What is the likelihood this could have since changed?
Just an FYI, Kansas isn’t on the drop down menu in the application… Doesn’t look like you can apply from Kansas.
That’s weird…I know it used to have Kansas because I opened one of these accounts from Kansas. They must have changed it.
I tried to sign up for this and It says I’m supposed to put in promo code “SWITCH” to get the $100 bonus
I finished applying and it never asked me for a promo code or to pick a charity. I followed the link from DOC. Does anyone know, did I miss it and screw this up, or do I not need the promo code and does this come latter? I tried opening an incognito tab and started filling out parts of the application and still didn’t see anywhere to put in the promo code. The credit card I was using was charged.
Same, there was nowhere on the application to enter a promo code. Went with it anyway for the CC funding.
I applied for this after having successfully opened a Pinnacle account. I was only asked one identity verification question; I answered it correctly, but my application was declined. The website said to call or visit a branch, while I received an email that stated: ‘We were unable to verify your identity or other personal information at this time. Please visit a Branch to complete your application.’
I’m not sure if I’ll press my luck by calling, but I’ll update if I do.
Last time this came up (sans charity donation) I signed up at both banks and got two bonuses. Used this to meet the spend requirement of my Chase Southwest Premier card.
Thanks, Alex.
typo: Expiration date: March 31st, 2016
Thanks fixed.
