Avoiding Fees

This account has a $4 fee that you cannot avoid, you’ll be charged an additional $5 per month if you choose to receive a paper statement as well. You must keep the account open for a minimum of 90 days otherwise you will forfeit the bonus.

Our Verdict

Their previous bonus was one of our all time favorite bonuses as it had no requirements and it was on the free checking account. This is still a great bonus, you’re just going to have to pay the monthly fees for the first three months (maybe longer depending on how long it takes for your bonus to post). We’ve added this bonus to our best bank account bonus list, but it’s not as high as their previous bonus was.

Big thanks to reader, Jeff H who let us know. Please consider sharing bank bonuses with this site so we can make it even better.

I am close to a B&M branch. Talking to them, they will credit MO deposits same day. You can change your Debit card design and PIN in the branch. I walked out with the new design card on the same trip.
ACH in or out is possible. ACH out is a $3.00 fee. Also POPMoney here. After CC deposit, I did ACH inbound deposit.
Young millennials and Senior Citizens can get an added benefit from a short menu. See website.

Any word on closing these accounts? I opened an account in Sept, and the bonus has posted and I’m past the 90 days, so I’m looking to close the accounts. They don’t have any locations within 2 hours from me, so I was hoping this is something I can do online.

Don’t activate your debit card right when you get it! Wait until they send you an email, and they’ll give you $5 just to activate it. I received the $5 offer about 60 days into having the account opened. The same is true for Pinnacle Bank of Colorado.

And then, if you haven’t used the debit card, they’ll send you another email offering $10 just for using the debit card 13 times in next 30days.

How long did it take after activating the debit card did you get the email offering $10 for using it?

Thank you for this. I opened my account on 6/30/17 and received an email this morning with the $5 offer to activate my debit card.

Data Point: I opened a Bank of Colorado and Pinnacle Bank account on the same day in February. I have received the Bank of Colorado bonus, but a CSR from Pinnacle Bank told me I will not be able to receive their bonus.

Received the following message at the end of my application: “You do not qualify for the product you requested.”

Odd…high credit score and very few new checking accounts opened this year.

A couple of data points:
In the last two weeks or so I funded with a Chase Hyatt that posted as a purchase and my girlfriend funded with a Chase Southwest Rapid Rewards Plus which funded as a deposit as well.

Sorry – for my girlfriend it should say “posted as a purchase as well”.

I opened an account with them over a week ago, they have my money but still no account online! Keep getting the run around. Not worth it.

I was wondering if previously having a Bank of Colorado account in the last 48 months will disqualify me from getting this bonus, since they are sister banks. Austin’s June 7th comments seems to suggest that. Anyone know for sure?

Has anyone not been charged the monthly fee of $4? I opened a diamond secure account 8/29 funding with a credit card. I pulled out most of the funding money on 9/5. It’s been sitting there since and no fees have been charged yet.

I opened my account on 7/5/17; qualified for the bonus on 10/3/17, received it on 10/13/17. Services fees were charged on 8/21 and 9/22.

Successfully closed Pinnacle Bank Diamond Secure Checking account over phone . The balance was brought down to zero before calling them .
Had tried via chat initially which failed.

Docm, did you use the 800-number or did you call a branch?
I was told both over chat and by phone at the 800-number (800-227-7715) that I needed to visit a branch to close. I was given the address and telephone number of the branch nearest my address. I haven’t tried calling it yet, but that’s my next step and I’ll report back.

Calling a branch instead of the 800-number worked fine.
