Amex personal Platinum cards earn 5x points on airfare as a standard benefit while the Amex business Platinum cards do not. However, some people are being targeted with a time-limited offer to get 5x on airfare with their Platinum business cards too.

- Must enroll at americanexpress.com/5Xair to start earning 5X Membership Rewards® points per dollar
- You must be the named recipient of this invitation
- Limit one offer per Card account
- Offer may not be combined with any other special offer
- Membership Rewards points for this offer are credited to the Basic Card Member only
- All points on these transactions will be credited to your Membership Rewards program account within 6-8 weeks after charges appear on your billing statement
- Charter flights, private jet flights, flights that are part of vacation packages, tours, or cruises, and flights booked with Platinum Travel Service on airlines that do not accept American Express are excluded
Our Verdict
If you have the Platinum personal card, this offer doesn’t really help you much, other than to help keep personal charges separate from business charges. If you don’t have the Platinum personal card but have the business version, this is a nice deal to be able to get the 5x rate for a few months.
Some people are getting accepted for this offer even if they didn’t get the email. I got the Sorry message when checking my business Platinum card; hopefully, you’ll have better luck.
