The Offer
Direct link to offer [Note: you probably need to have received the targeted e-mail to receive this promotion. You can try anyway and keep a copy of this landing page to contest it, but I don’t think you’ll receive the bonus unless you received the targeted e-mail]
- Receive a bonus of $25, $50 or $75 when you make two direct deposits of at least $250 between September 23rd and November 23rd, 2014.
The Fine Print
- Bonus will be paid out on December 12th, 2014
- Bank account bonuses are treated as interest and as such you’ll need to pay taxes on this
Our Verdict
This seems like a pretty easy bonus to go after if you received the targeted e-mail, it’s always nice to see banks offer bonuses to existing customers and not new customers. If you’re not a customer already with Capital One 360, wait until Black Friday where they increase the sign up bonus to $100 for the checking account and $76 for a savings account.
The fine print doesn’t mention what is counted as a direct deposit, usually it’s limited to government benefits or your regular payroll in the fine print but an ACH transfer will trigger the bonus. In the past transfers from Alliant and other ACH transfers have worked.
I received a targeted e-mail for $50 (presumably because I don’t have regular ACH’s/payroll coming into this account), my plan is to send $250 from one of my existing bank accounts to trigger the bonus. As always you can look at the best new checking account bonuses here, or view a complete list here.
I’ve also added this to the list of ways I’ve made money in 2014.
