American Express Now Offers Virtual Cards Numbers Within The Online Login (YMMV)

American Express added a feature whereby cardholders can generate a virtual card number for online use when you don’t want to give your regular card number.

Go to Account Services -> Card Management -> Add or Manage Virtual Cards. I see this in my online login, but it errors out for me. YMMV.

This is in addition to what AmEx rolled out earlier this year to use a virtual card number via Google Chrome and Android devices.

I think this is only for business cards? When I go to the create virtual card page, I can only choose my business cards; doesn’t seem to let me pick personal anywhere.

Will this work for recurring payments? The chrome one does not work since its CVV number keeps changing, or sometimes the merchant keeps asking for the cvv number to verify a card number stored on file

What is old is new again- Amex had this a very long time ago (pre2000).

Testing to see why my comments aren’t posting. This one was written without a link, and with my old email address.

@chuck is there a minimum about of activity needed before I can use a link in my link box?

Some comments route to moderation and won’t be posted until approved.

I figured that much, but I think after a recent change they were not getting approved at all, so I wondered what the reason might be ):
I suspect it’s that I now have a link, since the other message with a new email address and no link also worked.
Do you know if there’s a minimum amount of comments or likes before links can be used?

I updated my name only after using a different nickname for few years and even that change put mine into moderation.

That was purposeful. You can see slightly different wording to test.
This was before I learned about moderation from the helpful link above. I’ll wait a few days to see if my comments where I have a website (I erased it so this comment would go through) end up posting.
