Our Verdict
Always nice when a transfer bonus is offered.
I just want my ‘free coffee and bagel from the Bilt Neighborhood Cafe’ (while supplies last…)
Since end of 2023 there have not been any good transfer bonuses. Continuous cost cutting and miserly rewards.
This transfer bonus is… mediocre.
Witness me… not transfer any points.
According to BILT, we are the April Fools…
BILT coming in with transfer bonuses to lessen the eventual blow of their new shitty earning rates and tiered cards.
It’s a free card, offering rewards on rent which you cannot get from any other card. Save your complaints for cards that charge a fee.
Apologies to daddy Big Mac for disrespecting the best card. The only card. The people’s card. I love BILT and will never ever disrespect them ever again. All hail BILT‼️
I have never understood the amount of hate that Bilt gets. It’s an excellent product for what it is. People are miserable.
Don’t get me wrong, 1x points for Rent is the key benefit, and that does remain, for now…
However, BILT has indeed reduced benefits over time. For instance, Rent Day 2x used to be up to 10,000 points–Now, that bonus is limited to 1,000. Meh.
On partners, BILT used to have American Airlines, which was helpful since no one else (not even Citi) had AA as a transfer; fine, now they have Alaska instead–ok, let’s see how long the can keep Hyatt (because that one has real value for most of us).
I trust that the team over at BILT is trying hard to keep their ship afloat; yet, we know that their ‘daddy’ (Wells Fargo) has probably lost a lot of money on them.
So, probably less-than-exciting changes inbound; perhaps, annual fees with the new prospective card product shake-up that was recently discussed. Anyway, it’s been nice while it lasted.
Miserable?? We are renting after all…
When they removed Rent Day Trivia that’s what did it for me. I looked forward to that free 250 points each month. I’d go onto Reddit, find the answers in-advance, easy money. Tee-hee.
True, it could have a $500 fee and a bunch of terrible credits to get that 1x rent.
I sure hope they go the way of Amex (and now Chase with its United cards) and have coupon-book-style daily/weekly/monthly $1-10 credits that expire. That would be such great value for us cardmembers, right?
That would be ‘knock-out’ value.
does it make sense to apply for bilt now or wait for the refresh?
