We wrote previously that the Walmart/Cardcash partnership is no longer available. It has come to my attention a few more interesting changes in the Cardcash system.

New Site
Cardcash now has a newly designed website at the address new.cardcash.com. It’s a new design and functions slightly differently. On the home screen of the regular cardcash.com, there’s a banner that says:
I tried out a few different gift cards on the old site and the new one, and I wasn’t able to uncover any difference it price. Maybe there are only a few gift cards with lower pricing on the new site.
But I did uncover some interesting changes for the Sell You Gift Card option on the new site versus the old.
- They lowered the payout slightly on the old site on certain gift cards. Additionally, on partner-site ABC Gift Cards, I also found one instance (Target) where their offer was lower than the new Cardcash. Thus, if you’re selling to Cardcash/ABC, I’d recommend using the new Cardcash site, not ABC and not the old site. Oddly, the rate shown on Giftcardgranny is the rate from the new Cardcash, not from the stated ABC site; apparently the tech side isn’t totally worked out yet.
- They raised the Amazon gift card payout amount on the new site. On the old site and on ABC, the Amazon option pays out 4% more than the cash payment option. For example, if you’re selling $100 Walmart gift card, you can currently get $90 cash or $93.60 in the form of an Amazon gift card (90 x 1.04 = 93.60). On the new site, they’re paying out 7% extra for Amazon gift cards. This is even more than Cardpool who offers 6% extra, as we noted in our guide to selling gift cards. It’s possible that this is just a trial and won’t last, but let’s hope it does.[UPDATE 2/19/15: The higher rate seems to be gone, it’s now back to 4%.]
- They now mention more options other than Amazon coming soon:
Seems that there’ll be an option of getting paid in the form of a Cardcash gift card or a CVS gift card or in the form or United Miles. You can see more on this option of exchanging for United in this Chasing the Points post. He writes that the option was currently available a couple months ago, but now it seems that it’s “Coming soon”.
Final Thoughts
It’ll be interesting to see how these things develop. One thing I can’t understand is why they still advertise the ABC site on Giftcardgranny, since they seem to want to push the Cardcash site more. I wouldn’t be surprised if they’ll switch it over after they work out the kinks in the new Cardcash site.
I personally don’t use the Amazon payout option, so that increase won’t make a difference to me. But I did switch over from ABC to the new Cardcash site for my last order, since the payout was better on the new Cardcash. As noted, the rates shown on ABC are actually the new Cardcash rates, though it’s usually the same as the ABC site.
Cardcash.com stole the money from my gift cards, never sent me the wal-mart e gift card, will not answer phone calls, will not respond to emails. They are thiefs! I would encourage any attorney interested in class action lawsuits to get on these crooks ASAP. I know I’m not the only one who has been ripped off.
Cardcash.com are thieves. They sold me a worthless gift card to Toys R’ Us. They hide behind their “you have to use it in 45 days” excuse. They sold me an expired card. I will gladly join a class action lawsuit against these thieves. The best they could offer me was a $5 or $10 credit (on a $119.77 gift card). A manager was supposed to call me today; guess what? he never called. It states on their website that they do not buy cards with expiration dates; so, how do they justify selling me an expired card????? Any lawyers out there, please contact me. I will be happy to fly out to NJ to take them on.
I left out the word “use” near the end of my post.
CardCash is the worst discounted gift card I have ever used. They cancelled my sell order for no reason and with no nitification at all. I used to buy 4 gift cards from them in one transaction and 3 of them have already been used. They did issue me a refund, but it took me 50 minuted on the phone to be connected to a real person
P, your experience is exactly why I would never want to buy gift cards online even if it’s a good deal. I would always be worried that the seller would keep the gift card info and it himself/herself.
Same experience here. You will have to wait 30min to hours to get a hold of their CS
Don’t sell to these guys. I am still waiting for them to send me back the gift cards they refused to accept after they asked me to send them in, and now going on NINE MONTHS! There CS is horrible
