World Of Hyatt Changes: Milestone Rewards, Devaluation To Matched Status & Globalist Requiring 60 Nights For Existing Globalist

Hyatt has announced changes to it’s World Of Hyatt loyalty program, these changes will go into effect on March 1st, 2019.

Milestone Rewards

Milestone rewards are a way for loyalty members to earn additional benefits as they hit stay/points requirements.

  • 20 nights or 35k Base Points = NEW: 2 Club Lounge awards
  • 30 nights or 50k Base Points = UPDATED: Free night (Category 1-4) + 2 Club Lounge awards
  • 40 nights or 65k Base Points = NEW: Bonus Points or Hyatt Gift Card or a FIND experience savings when redeeming points
  • 50 nights or 80k Base Points = NEW: 2 suite upgrades
  • 60 nights or 100k Base Points = UPDATED: Free night (Category 1-7) + 2 suite upgrades + My Hyatt Concierge agent
  • 70 nights = Bonus Points or a suite upgrade
  • 80 nights = Bonus Points or a suite upgrade
  • 90 nights = Bonus Points or a suite upgrade
  • 100 nights = Bonus Points or a suite upgrade

Previously you earned the same rewards at the 70, 80, 90 and 100 night level. The other levels are either new or they have been updated. Night credits from the Chase Hyatt card also count towards these Milestone rewards.

Matched Status

When you match status (e.g MGM Mlife to Hyatt) you’ll no longer receive things like the suite upgrades as they are now tied to staying 50 nights or earning 80,000 base points. This same also applies to status challenges, although it’s possible they could offer what you’d normally earn as a milestone rewards as an additional benefit when doing a status challenge but that remains to be seen.

Globalist Requires 60 Nights

Globalist previously required 55 nights for existing  Globalist members, this will now be 60 nights from 2020 onwards.

Our Verdict

Matched status changes will be a big thing for a lot of readers, the new milestone rewards are obviously a positive and globalist requiring 60 nights instead of 55 for existing Globalist members is obviously a devaluation. Overall these changes don’t really bother me that much as I don’t try to chase status anymore. Hyatt is probably my favorite hotel brand, but the tiny footprint makes it almost impossible for me to even consider chasing status without making less than optimal bookings.
