BMO Business Platinum Rewards Credit Card – Up To 100,000 Points

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • BMO Business Platinum Rewards Credit Card is offering up to 100,000 points. Bonus is broken down as follows:
    • Earn 50,000 bonus rewards points when you spend $5,000 within 3 months of account opening,
    • Plus an additional 50,000 bonus rewards points when you spend at least $50,000 within 12 months of account opening

Card Details

  • No annual fee
  • Card earns at the following rates:
    • Earn 5 points For every $1 you spend on internet and phone services
    • Earn 4 points For every $1 you spend on office supplies and printing
    • Earn 3 points For every $1 you spend on gas
    • Earn 2 points For every $1 you spend on eligible dining purchases
    • All other purchases earn 1x on all other purchases

Our Verdict

Second part of the bonus is basically an extra 1x per $1 spent if you spend exactly $50,000. Not worth it in my opinion based on the earning rates of the card. The first 50,000 bonus is worth considering if the points are worth the same as the personal cards (1.25 towards travel or 1 towards statement credit).

Got my statement credit. i had to call 855 825 9237 and ignore the gift cards, travel, or merch redemption options, press 0 instead to get live agent.

Is calling customer service the only way to redeem the rewards?

Not sure. I had a lot of problems with their online access. Basically gave up on it.

Maya
Did you have to apply in branch or there is option for online application.

I was able to apply online after logging in. I wasn’t sure if someone could apply online without a login for an existing checking account with them though

@Guest_2025212 Maya where did you click to log in? The current landing page for the card only has apply in branch as an option. Logging into P2 account and clicking on credit card products just takes to main BMO website. Thanks!

I can only apply in a branch through the provided link
https://www.bmo.com/en-us/main/business-banking/credit-cards/platinumrewards/

Both from my local IP and a VPN through California

How do you set up autopay for this card? I could see the make payment button but not the auto-pay button. Will it show up after receiving the first bill? I got this card recently and haven’t received a bill yet, I wonder whether that is the reason I can not find auto pay function.

I tried several times on different browsers (chrome and firefox) and even on my phone and the final submit screen always produced an error message. No HP so the app must not have gone through but incredibly frustrating. Anyone else have this issue and have viable work around?

Same issue. I am a current customer with both business and personal accounts. When I applied while logged in, I got the error message, “Something is wrong on our end” (note that when I logged in, I got a message saying that I did not have a business profile set up and so none of my info was prepopulated in the app). I also tried applying while not logged in and got a different message saying that a business owner could not be identified and my app did not go through.

BMO’s system is extremely buggy: everybody runs into issues, and they are different issues.

I was able to login with business login for the first time, didn’t finish the application, then later it kept saying wrong information, while the login was correct and was able to login to BMO site. When trying to reset pw, it said wrong info again and would not reset.

Then I tried my personal login, same thing happened. The first time could login, then wrong info. It allowed me to reset my personal login though and I was able to submit the application. The login was correct but it was only good for one use.

Was anyone asked for business and personal tax returns?

They asked for two years of business tax return?

To answer my own question, tax return is optional to provide in the application. The application said they might ask for it, but not necessarily ask for it.
