Earlier in the week we reported that the U.S. Bank FlexPerks® Travel Rewards Visa Signature® Card has an increased sign up bonus (20,000 points + extra for every medal that the US team wins). I thought it was such a good deal that I plan on applying for it when I see the total medal tally at the end of the olympics.
Today I was doing a bit more research on this card and found that it’s possible to do a product change and get this card converted to the U.S. Bank Cash+™ Visa Signature® Card without a hard inquiry. I’ve been wanting to get the US Bank Cash+ card for awhile now, because it allows you to select two 5% categories and one 2% category. I didn’t want to waste a hard inquiry because the card doesn’t come with a sign up bonus.
The fact that I can now get a sign up bonus of about $300 in cash or $600 in travel and then convert it to a card with fixed 5% categories that I can choose makes this a no brainer for me to apply for.
