[YMMV] American Express Delta Gold – 50,000 Miles + $400 Statement Credit

Update 6/17/24: Showing up again.

Update 4/13/22: Last day for this deal.

The Offer

No direct link, shows up when doing a dummy booking

  • American Express is offering a sign up bonus of 50,000 miles after $2,000 in spend within the first three months. You also get a $400 statement credit after your first Delta purchase within three months of account opening

The Fine Print

  • Statement credit issued approximately 8-12 weeks after you make a Delta purchase on your Card in your first 3 months.
  • Bonus miles will be issued after you make $2,000 in purchases on your new Card in your first 3 months.
  • Offer Expires 7/28/2021.

Card Details

  • Annual fee of $99 waived first year
  • Card earns at the following rates:
    • 2x miles per $1 spent on restaurants (including takeout and delivery), groceries and Delta purchases
    • 1x miles per $1 spent on all other purchases
  • $100 Delta Flight Credit when you spend $10,000 in purchases on your Card in a calendar year
  • First Checked Bag Free
  • 20% Back on In-flight Purchases
  • Receive Main Cabin 1 Priority Boarding on Delta flights

Our Verdict

There was a 70k + $400 offer last year. That offer didn’t show for many people, the other offer that we frequently see is 90k miles or 70k + $200. The offer you prefer will depend on how highly you value Delta miles. We will add this to our list of the best credit card bonuses.

Popup jail for me. Had business version of the gold card last in 2019-2020

Do we lose our bonus and miles if we switch to no charge card before the next renewal charges hit the card.

annual fee needs to be updated to $150 in the post. It’s not $99 anymore

As a final DP, both me and P2 found ourselves in PUJ when we applied for the $500 + 40k offer tonight. I guess I will be rage applying for another CIP then.

Is the statement credit only for delta purchases or covers general purchases? I was denied for this card once and I got a hard pull when I applied through the Delta Website. It seems you lose “apply with confidence” when you don’t apply directly on the Amex website.

I understand it’s you get a big $400 statement credit as long as you make a purchase with Delta no matter the product/service and cost. Several years ago I had a deal like this, but a smaller credit. I bought the cheapest thing I could from Delta, an in-flight alcoholic beverage, and qualified! What a great way to enjoy earning that credit and you still get a Delta discount for that drink.

Does it have a life time language? Is it possible to apply and get the bonus if I just closed my delta gold card last month?

Switched browser and saw similar offer for the Business Gold card – 40k Skypesos + $400 credit with $3k spend in 6 months.

my best version was $500 plus 40k miles after $3k spend (changes even throughout the day)

I see this too:

Earn 40,000 Bonus Miles after spending $3,000 in purchases on your new Card in your first 6 months.†

You can also earn a $500 statement credit after you make a Delta purchase on your new Card within your first 6 months.†

Offer Expires 7/17/2024.†

No soup for me…
you are not eligible to receive the welcome offer. In determining eligibility, we considered your history with credit card balance transfers, your history as an American Express Card Member, the number of credit cards that you have opened and closed and other factors.

I am seeing a $500 + 40k miles offer during dummy booking, when I tried booking a flight for ~$450.

Wow this is a solid deal, I got a 75k/$200 bonus several years ago on this card but would rather have that offer

Great fine! I am still in eternal pop-up jail on P1 and P2 but awesome for anyone that can land it. Thanks for posting.

I was super excited to get this card for an upcoming Delta trip, but I guess Amex had other plans as I was sent right back to my same old PUJ the moment I hit apply.

Worked for BOS to SLC with every date combination in July. I was able to pull up the offer on my desktop in incognito Chrome and Safari. So far haven’t been able to pull it up on my phone or tab with the exact combinations.
