The Fine Print

  • Statement credit issued approximately 8-12 weeks after you make a Delta purchase on your Card in your first 3 months.
  • Bonus miles will be issued after you make $2,000 in purchases on your new Card in your first 3 months.
  • Offer Expires 7/28/2021.

Card Details

  • Annual fee of $99 waived first year
  • Card earns at the following rates:
    • 2x miles per $1 spent on restaurants (including takeout and delivery), groceries and Delta purchases
    • 1x miles per $1 spent on all other purchases
  • $100 Delta Flight Credit when you spend $10,000 in purchases on your Card in a calendar year
  • First Checked Bag Free
  • 20% Back on In-flight Purchases
  • Receive Main Cabin 1 Priority Boarding on Delta flights

Our Verdict

There was a 70k + $400 offer last year. That offer didn’t show for many people, the other offer that we frequently see is 90k miles or 70k + $200. The offer you prefer will depend on how highly you value Delta miles. We will add this to our list of the best credit card bonuses.

brave browser (incognito), SFO to DEN picking the first class route on Delta triggered 40K + $500
tried it in Chrome first (incognito) and only got 40k + $400
exit node is in SF

I received the $500 offer as well while looking at prices for an upcoming trip, but when I applied, got the pop up saying I wasn’t eligible for the welcome offer. My wife hasn’t been eligible for years (she did close a card after having it for a year – that’s the only thing I can think of that got her there). I’ve neither opened nor closed AmEx cards in years (currently have the Gold and one of the Hilton cards open).

When I chatted to see why I was in pop up jail, I was told that the offer is only for those who haven’t had the card before. I told them I had never had a Delta card and asked if they could see that I had – of course he couldn’t find any cancelled Delta card in my account.

I’m about done with the AmEx game, despite their “hoping for my kind understanding”.

Had a trip to book anyway so I went for the 40k/$500 offer. Unfortunately I got hit with pop up jail.

Tried with P2 instead, and fortunately she was able to get approved with the offer. I had to create a new skymiles account for her and she was offered 80k/$0 there. Opted to stick with the 40k/$500.

Curious what your booking looked like to pull the elevated 40k/$500, have only been seeing the 40k/$400 offer

I was doing DTW to MCO, based out of Michigan. No VPN, no incognito, etc. just normal browsing. One small quirk I saw was that I was only getting 40k/$250 if I was going through the booking while logged into my Delta account. But I was pulling the 40k/$500 while logged out.

Note the $500 statement credit offer is 40k miles instead of 50k miles. I’m seeing this offer pretty readily available now through booking page. Offer shows expiry: 07/17/2024

I can never seem to get the best Delta dummy booking offers to show up for me. I’ve been trying to get $500 + 40k or even $400 + 50k to show up for a few weeks now, but all I can seem to pull is $400 + 40k on various browsers’ incognito modes and different devices. Not sure if it’s my IP, browsers, routes/dates, time of day checking, etc. but it’s kind of frustrating.

Oh well, guess I’ll just go back to waiting for the 120k CIP offer to go public

Maybe try SoCal, I was able to pull 400+ 50K without doing anything specific.

I’ve been having the same issue. Only the “$400 + 40k” offer is showing up using multiple browsers and different devices.

Same here. I tried different browsers and different routes/dates/seat types/etc. No luck getting better than $400+40k.

Does a Delta purchase need to be Delta flight or other purchase? or can it be any purchase charged to the Delta AMEX?

One person said in-flight purchase worked.
