BMO Bank has launched the ‘Escape Credit Card‘. Currently the card is only accepting applicants in branch. Card details are as follows:

  • $150 annual fee, not waived first year
  • Sign up bonus of  45,000 bonus points when you spend $5,000 within 3 months of opening your account.
  • Card earns at the following rates (eapped at $3,000 in spend per quarter before dropping to 1x):
    • 4 points For every dollar spent on airfare and dining
    • 3 points For every dollar spent on hotels, tours, travel agencies and cruises
    • 2 points For every dollar spent on rideshare services, taxis and car rentals
    • Unlimited 1 points For every $1 spent everywhere else.
  • Free digital PriorityPass Annual Membership with 2 free PriorityPass lounge visits
  • Get reimbursed up to $100 every 4 years for your Global Entry, TSAT S A PreCheck® or NEXUS
  • Enjoy a $20 monthly statement credit when you use your card and spend $200 per month at hotels worldwide

Our Verdict

Assuming points are worth 1¢ each this is basically a $300 bonus after paying the $150 annual fee. Hotel credit is somewhat interesting if you’re regularly paying for hotels. Can’t see this being hugely popular especially as it’s in branch only but could be useful to some readers.
