Flu Shot Deals 2022: CVS, Safeway & More

Every year different places offer an incentive for getting the flu shot.

Will add more as they become available. You’ll probably want to wait until later in the year for maximum effectiveness.

  • Walgreens now gives a coupon for getting a vaccine thru 8/31/23. See footnote 2 on:
    https://www.walgreens.com/topic/pharmacy/immunization-services-appointments.jsp

To get the coupon, you do not need to be a myWalgreens member.
For example, the pharmacy handed back one receipt and two coupons, for two identical vaccines one each for two non-members.

However, to redeem the coupon, you have to be a myWalgreens member, and (I assume) redeem one coupon per transaction.

The coupon must be redeemed within 14 days (double check to make sure it has not been changed to 7 days).

To redeem, make a $1+ purchase, hand over one coupon, and enter your phone number associated with your myWalgreens membership on the PIN pad. The receipt should show you earned $5 in Walgreens Cash rewards (plus 1% or 5% of eligible purchase).
Repeat for another transaction if you have another coupon.

Use the earned Walgreens Cash rewards in yet another transaction within 12 months, or they expire.

Insert a chipped credit card into the PIN pad facing the chip down.

  • Any interesting opportunities with the $5 off $20 CVS coupon? Seems pretty restricted, ie no sale/promotional items, but not sure how well that’s coded into the POS. Their rack rate prices are so inflated that 25% isn’t really a worthwhile discount

  • Kroger Family of Companies have a $5 coupon that you need to clip. Expires Nov. 05.

Click on the Pharmacy and Health tab to see. Examples:

    https://www.kroger.com/health/clinic/vaccinations/influenza
    https://www.kingsoopers.com/health/clinic/vaccinations/influenza
    https://www.smithsfoodanddrug.com/health/clinic/vaccinations/influenza

Can also go to the All Coupons pages and search "flu".

    T&C:

Save $5 on your next grocery purchase* when you get a flu vaccine at our pharmacy by November 5, 2022. Offer will be activated upon completion of the flu vaccine. Restrictions and exclusions may apply. Limit 1 coupon per patient. Must present Shopper’s Card at the Pharmacy. Offer not redeemable for purchases of any items prohibited by law. Restrictions may apply. Excludes prescriptions and vaccinations for individuals who are eligible for federally funded healthcare programs, including, but not limited to, Medicare, Medicaid and Tricare. See Pharmacy for details. Offer expires 11/05/22. State restrictions make this offer invalid in AL, AR, and OR.

Limit of one coupon per household. Digital Coupons and paper coupons may not be combined on the purchase of a single item. Specially marked items, such as Clearance or Manager’s Specials may not be eligible for Digital Coupons.

    • The receipt shows:

      RX Card Balance: $5.00
      RX reward expires on 3/31/2023

So the $5 is not a printed coupon.
Then during self-checkout, there is a place to tap to use up the RX balance.

  • With the Walgreens deal, do I have to spend $1 in the store at the time the vaccine is given or is that just them saying you have to spend at least $1 to redeem Walgreens rewards?

    • My wife went today and got one for the covid booster and one for the flu shot. They are the receipt print outs that you usually get at walgreens for spending $25 and getting a $5 walgreens cash on your account except with this you only have to spend $1 and you have 14 days to do it.

  • It looks like CVS is giving $5 of $20 coupons for COVID shots (and perhaps other vaccines, too), as per email. Terms:

  • Those who don't believe in vaccines shouldn't take them. How else will the laws of natural selection apply?

We've eliminated the risk of dying from lions or hunger. How will nature weed out the foolish?

A genius President once asked you to injest bleach. Blind loyalty is all one can ask.

    • Yep, the cult dummies will pay for their anti-vax madness when the next pandemic arrives. Goodbye! Thank you, Darwin.
