Hilton has added the ability to restore points that have expired. Hilton points expire after 12 months of no activity, this new feature allows you to restore up to 1,000,000 points. Unfortunately you have to pay 0.25¢ per point to get them restored. Previously it was possible to call in and get them restored for free, although they usually wouldn’t do this unless you had a recent stay at a Hilton property. If Hilton no longer allows this free option this could actually be a downgrade.
The fine print for this new feature is as follows:
- Points Reinstate Hilton Honors members can reinstate up to 1,000,000 expired Hilton Honors Points.
- Only Points balances that have expired in the previous 18 months are eligible for reinstatement.
- Only one reinstatement transaction is permitted per Hilton Honors account.
- Email address is required and will only be used for transaction and marketing communications related to this purchase.
- Points reinstated do not count towards elite tier qualification. Points.com and Hilton Honors reserve the right to terminate this reinstatement program at any time
