Instacart+ Benefit Changes

Instacart sent out an email with ba change in benefits for the Instacart+ members. Lots of us still have that membership free from having various Chase cards. (That benefit is expired, but is still active for those who enrolled earlier this year.)

Benefits being removed:

  • 5% credit back on pickup orders, benefit is being removed effective immediately. (Update: others are not having their 5% pickup benefit going away at this time.)
  • Reduced service fees, benefit will be removed effective 3/1/25.

Additions:

Instacart+ is offering $0 delivery fees on grocery & retail orders of $10 or more through 12/31/24. That’s instead of the normal $35 minimum.

The email also touts numerous new benefits which were added over the past year:

  • $0 delivery fees* on eligible orders from your favorite local restaurants, powered by Uber Eats
  • Extended sharing of your $0 delivery fee benefit with family (up to 3 people)
  • Peacock streaming ($79.99 value)
  • New York Times Cooking 1-year subscription for annual Instacart+ members ($50 value)

I’m still getting 5% cash back for pickups each week I use Instacart. Is anyone else still getting the benefit?

that sucks . the 20% off from costco gift cards and 5% back on pickup made it much cheaper than buying in store, even better for stores like food lion which had instore prices . not great for those who got in on the annual price when they had the last deal

The email that I received did not mention anything about the 5% credit removal. Anyway, I had a pick-up order today and after completion of the order, I received the 5% credit.

Note that the 5% credit does not show up in the receipt but it shows up in the Instacart+ credit history.

right now I am paying 38% service fee on average. So this would mean $0.90 service fee on a $50 order will become $2.40, a $1.50 increase and extra hotdog gone.

0.90 on $50= 1.8%, not 38%….

Great to see these changes made the day after I subscribed for a year (although at only $20). No more reduced service fees is a huge bummer.

They gave me a (Black Friday?) offer for $19 instead of the normal $99. Had been subscribed previously through the Chase offers, but once those ran out a few months ago I had canceled.

Didn’t really understand the email it means that each order will now cost $7.99 more?

The standard delivery fee for orders which wouldn’t meet the free threshold is $7.99, I think? Tested it with a $11 Target order. Normally the delivery fee would’ve been $7.99, but it’s free right now via the temporary benefit through the end of the year)

People are gonna be pissed at this when they notice how big the service fees they’ve been waiving are. It’s been a made up number to a lot of people until now but it’s a sizable line item.

My email said the 5% credit is going away effective immediately, but I did a test order (although I didn’t check out completely) and it said I would still get it on the Place Order screen.

It’s a shame it’s going away, though. It’s been part of my biggest money-saver: 20% off Instacart gift cards from Costco + 5% pickup credit + store that uses in-store pricing = easy 25% off all groceries

Looks like the 5% credit is gone, regardless of what the email says. My email didn’t mention it but the 5% credit is no longer listed under benefits within the app.
