Our Thoughts
I’m guessing somebody at Marriott likes alliteration (Marriott Bonvoy Boundless, Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant). Aside from the card names being cringe these changes aren’t surprising. When American Express & Chase signed new deals with Marriott we knew that Chase would stop issuing business cards/luxury and American Express would stop issuing low/no annual fee consumer cards. I’m surprised it has taken this long to go into effect, but I guess it makes sense with the rebranding.
The extra 25,000 points per $25,000 in spend just means that card earns at 3x points again if you spend exactly in intervals of $25,000 (what it used to earn at before a devaluation).
