Swagbucks Giftcard Changes

Swagbucks is a website that lets you earn virtual points for things like Bing searches, answering surveys, playing games and more. They also have an online shopping portal, which sometimes offers better rates than their competitors (e.g Topcashback).

Rather than earning straight cash back, you earn swagbucks which can be redeemed for gift cards. Generally points are worth 1¢ each, but in the past you’ve been able to redeem 450 Swagbucks for a $5 gift card (limit of 5 per month) which gave a value of 1.11¢ per point.

Swagbucks are making a number of changes:

  • $5 Amazon gift cards will now cost 500 points (up from 450)
  • A $3 Amazon gift card will be introduced which will cost 300 points
  • You’ll be able to redeem 2,200 points for any $25 gift card (excluding Paypal) once per month

These changes will go into effect March 2nd at 8am PST/11am EST so you don’t have long to redeem for the $5 Amazon gift cards. This is actually a positive change as long as you can save up 2,200 points as you’re getting a value of 1.13¢ per point instead of 1.11¢.

If you don’t already have a Swagbucks account, feel free to use my link. I’ll receive a 10% bonus on however many points you earn (you still earn the same amount regardless).
