U.S. To Reopen To Tourism, Require Vaccination

According to a report by Reuters the Biden administration is developing a plan to reopen to tourism. The key pillar of that plan is to required nearly all foreign visitors be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. An official stated the following:

a phased approach that over time will mean, with limited exceptions, that foreign nationals traveling to the United States (from all countries) need to be fully vaccinated.

Key questions such as what sort of proof will be accepted, if vaccination will be required for land crossings and other matters currently remain unanswered.

“let me see your papers (vaccine card)”. sad part is how easily people are giving up their freedoms.

Is it weird that I feel the vaccine has given me freedoms?

If you believe that some public health autocrat decides when you can and cannot live freely, then you don’t have a very American understanding of liberty to begin with.

How is getting a vaccine to protect yourself and those around you giving up your freedom? I’m serious. Vaccines have been mandated in most schools for a long time. Did you give up your freedom to protect yourself again chickenpox? Or against measles? People are saying it’s their choice, and it is. But the irony is that the same people that scream my body my choice with the vaccine are the same people who are saying women don’t have a choice with their bodies.

What about U.S citizens returning? Why the fuck do U.S citizens still need a negative COVID test to enter the U.S and how much longer?

Yeah wish they do something about this as well, so I don’t have to worry about getting COVID test in some other country just to enter US again.

The problem is that many of these 3rd world countries, they probably print the covid cards on their computers. In fact, even people in the US are probably doing that. The covid cards are worthless.

My doctor’s office was able to see the dates and lot numbers of the shots I got at Walgreens. The system apparently isn’t as archaic as we thought.

So is covid no big deal and there should be no restrictions or is it a big deal and that’s why we need to secure the southern border and worry about the covid that might be coming thru? Can’t have it both ways.

Fully vaccinated with how many boosters?
Not sure why our gov’t has to be so far behind the scientific reality. But I’m sure they’re not the only ones. The media doesn’t pay attention to what they don’t want to hear. Like Iceland and Israel and Sweden.

For those not up to speed (and I don’t blame you, since few are looking to report this stuff), the evidence is becoming overwhelming that the vaxes provide some protection against serious illness that fades in a few months. There’s no material protection against infection and, it would seem, your ability to infect others. We will definitely not be vaxing our way out of this pandemic. It will require more natural infection.

Put it another way, we can’t control Covid, even though many will continue to pretend they can. The good news is that the virus seems to be mutating to a less virulent form, which is what viruses tend to do.

Seemed clear to me from the start this was a fool’s errand. Why? Because we’ve never cured the common cold. This *is* the common cold, albeit lethal in a few circumstances. Colds are majority rhinovirus, or coronovirus in approx 70/30 ratio. Many folks have had coronas before and were probably better equipped for these strains.

The premise of mRNA to encode 19 or so different spike proteins seemed like a good idea – to diversify response – and get antibodies to a lot of variations. Alas, it seems those damned spike appear to cleave off from our guinea pig humans and are themselves inflammatory, wreaking all kinds of havoc (including probably triggering Shingles in my Mom). To make matters worse, the “Antibody Dependent Enhancement” probably makes you more susceptible to a second infection. Whoops!

One day this technology will be awesome for gene therapy. But in mean time both Moderna and Pfizer are a shit show of unsue-able events

From the early trials, it was well reported that the vaccine wasn’t preventative. That it did prevent somewhat was a bonus. If more than 80% had gotten vaccines quickly enough, the spread would have been much more contained. Now that this most recent variant is running rampant and many vaccinated people have lost immunity, any hope of control is quickly fading, if not already past. Vaccination will prevent serious illness, and lowering the very real risk of long Covid.

I understand some people’s thinking of not wanting the vaccine (lack of official approval, side effects) but have a hard time understanding some of the overt attempts of some people of influence swaying people against it. I’d be willing to bet some of those people are already vaccinated.

It’s not a vaccine, it’s a therapeutic that provides some protection for a short duration of time. And it comes with a risk of side effects, some of which (while relatively rare) are very bad. Almost no one who isn’t in a vulnerable group will be signing up for the boosters, no matter how much propaganda the media, politicians and public health officials peddle. We’ll get through this like we’ve gotten through other coronaviruses, with slowly developing natural immunity.

Do you really think most Americans are going to tolerate their ruling class hectoring them that they haven’t taken their experimental booster next winter? If you think they will, you don’t know human nature.

The last two, SARS in 2003 and MERS in in 2012, barely affected the US. Over 600 thousand people have died from COVID-19 in the US alone. I’m not in a vulnerable group but people around me are so I will sign up for a booster after researching without hesitation. I don’t need a politician or autocrat or tv personality to tell me what to do.

Either way, the world needs to move on. Let the adults get the vaccine and the children not get it. Let the virus run its course through the voluntarily unvaccinated, but let the press do their job and report on illnesses and deaths which can hopefully scare some of these idiots into getting vaccinated. Some mask mandates may be necessary to slow the spread, but we should more or less be open for good at this point (barring a serious mutation).

In the meantime, we should be diverting some of the abundant vaccine supplies that are in our own pharmacies to other parts of the world. There’s billions of people who want to get a vaccine but who haven’t gotten one yet.
