Barclay Arrival Plus is Back, No-Fee Arrival Gone Completely

The Barclay Arrival Plus Mastercard with an $89 annual fee is back up for signup via public channels. Conversely, the no-fee Arrival version is gone even from affiliate channels and downgrading options.

Arrival Plus

The Arrival+ was gone from standard signup channels since May, although it’s always been available via affiliate channels (creditcards.com and similar affiliates).

It’s now available through a public link as well, as well as direct phone signup.

Direct Link for online applications

[This comes up as the second search result from Google. Oddly, the first result still shows the Check Back Later to Apply message.]

I called up Barclay’s application center (800-307-0341), and the rep there confirmed that it wasn’t available for phone signup for some time, but it came back a few days ago.

No-Fee Arrival

The No-Fee Arrival was in the same boat as the Arrival+ for the past few months, and was only available for signup via affiliate channels. Within the past few days, it’s been removed from all signup channels completely.

Moreover, my friend Leanna from Milesforfamily tells me that reader Lisa tried product changing her Arrival+ to the no-fee version, and was told the option isn’t available currently. Instead, they recommended she change the card to the Barclay Rewards card.

We don’t know that the no-fee Arrival is being discontinued completely (rep I spoke to at Barclay’s application line didn’t seem to think so). I do think it’s possible they’ll discontinue the card completely given the release of the Cash Forward card in December.

Update: In the comments of this post, many confirm that the no-fee Arrival is still available for downgrade. They might not give that option to everyone, but the card is certainly still around somewhat.

Thanks again to Leanna from Milesforfamily for some of this info

Is the Rewards Mastercard still available as of Feb 2018? I can’t find it listed on their website.

Sample point as of 9/27/17: it’s still available for downgrade. I called to cancel my A+, and I was immediately offered a downgrade + 1k points on first purchase.

I downgraded to the Arrival no fee several months ago when AF on the plus came due. Am now looking to use the card for some upcoming travel so as to utiize the points I currently have. In reading about REDEMPTIONS in my account…they indicate the following—” Redeem your miles for travel statement credits, starting at 2,500 miles for $25 toward all or a portion of your qualifying travel purchase of $25 or more made within the last 120 days.”. This is different from the Arrival Plus with its 10,000 miles for $100.
It’s what the original Arrival PLus had before the “changes” and seems like a selling point for downgrading.
Can you confirm? Notice that Jeff comment above on Sept.6 indicates the same. Just surprised and surprised none of the bloggers have mentioned it. Thaks

My Arrival Plus has been closed for about two years now. I got it back in the day when the application bonus was generous. I thought I had read that if you had the card once with bonus, you were no longer eligible for the bonus in the future….ever, not just two years.

Has this changed or was never the case? My relationship with Barclays is pretty good and I would love to have the Arrival Plus again. I can offer to close another card with them on the reconsideration call.

Any info on this? Don’t want to waste a perfectly good inquiry for nada (bonus).

Same as I was thinking. Under Important Information it says:
This offer is available to new cardmembers only.

Might mean you can get the card again BUT without the bonus.

Anyone RECENTLY receive new bonus again?

I was the Lisa that Leanna had referenced in her note. I think that I may have not explained my situation thoroughly. When I tried to downgrade two weeks ago from the Arrival+ to the no-fee Arrival, the CSR said that I could do it, but he also suggested the Barclay Rewards card. I find the Rewards card to be a better option because it allows you to redeem at 1,000 points ($10) versus Arrival at 2,500 points ($25). Also, you can get 2x points on gas, utility and grocery versus 2x points on travel and dining (Arrival). Plus, it frees you up to still apply to the Arrival+ again.

I have it on good authority that the no-fee Arrival will be back next week, at least for affiliates.

I don’t understand something here. I got the Arrival Plus for the bonus last year. What’s the difference between the Arrival no fee and the Arrival plus? (except for not paying the fee)…

do you still get 2X off? I find it a little disconcerting to have to fiddle with the account online to get the credits, but do like the idea of using it without having to sign everywhere in Europe…

Though downgrading it at no cost sounds ok if you still get the 2X rewards. What about forex charges?
