Lots of people got targeted Citi spend offers today via email. Let us know what your offer is. You can see Q3 2017 spend offers on other cards in this post.
10% Cash Back (max $25)
- Get 10% cash back on any purchase, with a max earn of $25
- Get 5% cash back on any purchase, with a max earn of $25
Frequentmiler got the 10% offer and others got the 5% one on their ThankYou Preferred card. These offers are the easiest since they work on all spend, besides restaurants and entertainment. Valid through 9/30.
3x AA Miles
Some Reddit users got the following on their American Airlines cards:
- Get 3x AA miles at restaurants, movie theaters and show theaters (I think that means 2x extra); max 2,500 miles
(I think that means $833 in spend) - Get 3x AA miles a tcomputer and electronic stores (I think that means 2x extra); max 2,500 miles
(I think that means $833 in spend)
5x ThankYou Points
Others got the following on ThankYou or AA cards:
- Earn 5 ThankYou/AA points at Clothing Stores, Office Supply Stores, Computer & Electronics Stores, Department Stores; max of 2,500 points (
$500$625 spend)
I’m sure there are other offer variations that came out from Citi. Let us know in the comments.
My offer came by mail only and just arrived today. It is for a ThankYou Preferred card and is offering 5% cash back as a statement credit up to $25, through 09/30/2017 on eligible purchases you make at: Grocery Stores, Gas Stations, Drugstores, and Mass Transit & Commuter Transportation Vendors.
This is an interesting offer because I have never had a cash back offer via statement credit on my Thank You card before. It has always been for additional ThankYou points.
I got 3x AA miles up to 2500 at computer and electronics stores on my CitiBUSINESS AA card. Pretty cool that the targeted spend offers aren’t just limited to personal cards.
i would consider anything coming from Citi a TRAP. especially if you MS the bonus.
if you do organic then i guess youre ok.
Do you care to elaborate? I’m familiar with stories of US Bank recently shutting accounts down for buying gift cards, but I’m not as familiar with Citi’s reactions. Is there a thread you can point me to?
I got an offer on my Citi AA Platinum card as well:
Earn 3 AAdvantage® miles per $1 spent, up to 2,500 miles, through 09/30/2017 on eligible purchases you make at:
• Restaurants
• Grocery Stores
• Gas Stations
• Drugstores
• Mass Transit & Commuter Transportation Vendors
Here’s an excerpt from the fine print explaining the bonus:
Earnings associated with this program will equal 2 AAdvantage® bonus mile(s) per $1 spent on eligible purchases and may overlap with other special offers in which you are currently enrolled. AAdvantage® miles earned with this offer are subject to a maximum of 2,500 AAdvantage® bonus miles.
This to me sounds like I can spend up to $1,250 (2,500/2=1,250) in those categories to reach the maximum BONUS points for this offer. So the math you have above showing $833 in spending (2,500/3=833.33) looks to be incorrect for maximizing this offer.
I have the strange feeling I’ll be “shopping” at grocery and drug stores with this card. Time to take it off my “bench” of cards that don’t get regular spend.
No Hilton for me.
Shouldn’t the 5x bonus TY points for a max of 2,500 additional points apply to $625 of spend (NOT $500)? So for a spend of $625 x 4 = 2500 bonus points plus 625 points = 3125 points should be earned.
The T&Cs state that “Earnings associated with this program will equal 4 bonus ThankYou Point(s) per $1 spent on eligible purchases and may overlap with other special offers in which you are currently enrolled. Total earnings associated with this offer are subject to a maximum of 2,500 additional points.”
Yup, sounds right. I’ll fix the post, thanks
3X back on all purchases up to $2500 on Citi aa biz
Scratch….only on Electronics and computer stores….dagger
I got 5x AA miles on dining, shopping, groceries up to 2,500 miles on my third of four AA cards in last 2 years.
May have to dust off the AA card.
wish there was some rhyme or reason for the offers. got 4 citi cards and 0 offers.
Citi has just the worst customer service. I requested a card with a 770 FICO, they gave me…>$2K of limit. And now they want to do some kind of income verification which just eats up more of my time to manufacture the spend out of them. Doc/Anyone else been through this before?
