• Citi is running a promotion where when you transfer your Citi ThankYou points to Virgin Atlantic miles, you’ll receive a 25% transfer bonus. You must transfer in increments of 1,000 ThankYou points, which would equal 1,250 Virgin Atlantic miles.

Our Verdict

This is the first real transfer bonus Citi has offered, it looked like they were offering a 25% transfer bonus to Etihad but they changed the terms of that promotion half way through. Given that this promotion is listed on the Citi website, I don’t think we’ll be seeing a repeat of this.

Diners Club is also offering a 20% transfer bonus and American Express offered a 25% bonus until April 30th (and they’ve offered bonuses of up to 30% in the past), so presumably Virgin Atlantic are selling miles to credit card issuers at a significantly discount compared to other airlines and hotel companies.

As always how useful this particular bonus will be is largely dependent on how valuable you find Virgin Atlantic miles.
